IMHO there's always a silver lining with every cloudy day. When Obama won in 2008 the Republicans regrouped; the Tea Party, possibly the greatest grass-roots political movement in history gained prominence, the House went Republican in 2010 and today eliminating the deficit is on the front burner in the American political discussion. None of this would have happened if McCain had won in my humble opinion.

When Bush won in the historic 2000, the race was so close and vulnerable to misreading of ballots, new measures were implemented nationally to encourage greater voter participation. Confusing punchcard butterfly ballots were ended and today we have early voting in many states, something I doubt would have ever happened had not Bush won.

If you're a Romney supporter and Obama wins especially if only because of the Electoral College while losing the popular vote, I think serious efforts will be made to eliminate the EC.

If you're an Obama supporter and Romney wins
, I think the OWS movement will become energized and become a formidable counter movement to the Tea Party.

add your own consolation prize predictions.

If Romney wins, congressional Republicans will be less likely to continue to block economic stimulus policies and hold the debt ceiling hostage.

Sorry, I can't think of one single thing. Oh wait, they won't have to pay to redecorate the White House.

No matter who wins, we'll have a liberal in the White House.

If Romney wins the economic recovery will come to a screeching halt due to more military spending and deregulation a la Bush. That's the problem. Also, with fewer and fewer young people being able to get higher degrees, more Bush/Romney assaults on education and affordability will result in longterm productivity losses, not to mention the infrastructure degradation that was rife under Bush, but which Obama halted with the Stimulus Act.

So, I think political posturing will be rather moot -- we will have a real economic crisis under more Bush conservative policies and that scares me.

if Romney wins, the anti-war movement will appear again, and the Republican base will finally start rooting for the economy to recover.

Any conservatives less than thrilled about two moderates in a row as the GOP candidate for POTUS?

How is the former good for me? I like the EC.

If Obama wins, there's a 98% chance that a new centrist political party will be prominent and dominant by 2016, simply to attempt to resuscitate America that Obama suffocated.

If Romney wins, there's only a 73% chance that a new centrist political party will be prominent and dominant by 2016.

Either way, the "silent majority" won't be silent much longer, as both candidates will make things worse for America to the degree that it will be the last straw that finally breaks the silent camel's back, it's just that Obama will make things much worse.

Have I seen you on that show Doomsday Preppers?

LOL The WH is undergoing a renovation. POTUS is supposed to be kicked out of the WW for about a year after the inauguration. The Oval is supposed to be larger afterward but I am not sure how much bigger. I think they just covered over the "No we swear it is not a bunker--it is a at least 3 story deep utility hole" hole in the last couple months.

You don't understand the OP, do you?

If Romney wins it will be fun watching Chris Matthews.

Or what you say is pure fantasy and 4 years later we will see Democrats and Republicans having at it by themselves once more.

The spending just keeps on going doesn't it? Good grief! :doh. Here I was just thinking of the basket ball court and brewery that they had to have.

Ok, lets analyze your talking points: military spending will halt the recovery--------who gets the money that the govt spends on the military? american blue collar workers

deregulation: how does overregulation help the economy?

fewer young people being able to go to college: is a college education a right? don't we need plumbers, electricians, welders, carpenters, and auto mechanics?

infrastructure degradation: what infrastructure improvements has obama done in 4 years?

the reason that Bush's second term was bad economically is because he became a liberal, and liberal policies always fail. But you want more of it, amazing.

Romney hasn't stood his ground on at least 90% of what he has said. One day he feels a certain way about an issue, the next day he feels different. So if Romney wins, I don't know what to expect. Not knowing what to expect is what worries me.

Gas prices will fall when Romney and the Rehubs crash the economy!

Or, in other words, "I, Fiddytree, am simply not a centrist."

It has been ongoing for years. Started under Bush after 9/11 when they built some kind of bunker complex underground running from the front forward that was supposed to house all kinds of additional Family rec space and security stuff. Rumor seems to be the hole was a bunker for the west side since the other bunker is believed to be under the east wing based on local news segment I saw about it posted on youtube. I think they are going to integrate the EOB into the WW somehow as part of this as well, but I am not sure why I think that.

I hate getting all metro but as a side I think the Oval Office needs a major 21st century remodeling. Obama IMHO is most likely to do so more than Romney.

Romney is so square the Oval Office would grow corners. ;)
