Economically Obama was a complete failure in his first four years. Please explain to me IF he should win how will the second term be any different? All of a sudden Obama has come up with a pamplet and all this plans for economic recovery Yeah!!! and this time its going to work

How can you explain something to someone about the future who had already prefaced the thread with their own delusions of the past?

Because last time it was just a mindless slogan...you know..."hope" and "change". This time...its something meaningful...this time the plan is..."forward". See?

(the next few generations in this country are SO ****ed)

I don't know. Ask a Bush-Basher.

It will economically be the same if Romney wins--the economy is going to suck. Romney, however, will put states in a better position to foster targeted economic development in areas most challenged and left behind. How do I know this? He was a Governor; he thinks like a Governor; he knows the challenges Governors face trying to do targeted economic development; He is more Politics is local than politics is national. He recognizes that his plan in Massachusetts was designed for that state and may not be the best model for every state. He has a much better tactical intellect to address the same strategic problems that Obama is too out of touch to resolve.

The economy where I live is not an illussion, it sucks and is getting worse. From your remarks you must think the economy is just fine and we should expect more of the same.

You won't accept any explanations. You are speaking in extremes. I don't think the economy is great and I don't think we are in economic failure. There's a lot of in between there ya know. Economy sucks where I'm at as well but statistically where I'm at is right near the last state in economic recover. I, however am not delusional enough to make a nationwide assumption based on my one city locale.

It would be so nice if we could live in a world where the president didn't control the economy.

No, no...you're mistaken...they want the next four years to be the SAME as the last four. That monthly welfare check rolling in, while continually blaming the previous administration on why you need that monthly welfare check. It's brilliant!

Let me rephrase the OP: "Since everyone knows Obama toooootally sucks, and he shouldn't be reelected ... why would anyone vote for him?"

In essence, the president really doesn't have as much to do with the economy as most people think. Congress and the pendulum throughout the country do. Unfortunately for the left, Obama's policies haven't exactly played a role in reviving the economy. We're supposed to be sold now on a slow recovery as if it's better than nothing. On paper, that's fine. But when you campaign on ridiculous comments, phrases and promises, you're technically a failure.

There's really not a whole lot the president can do to effect the economy. If I remember correctly, he plans on extending the 2% savings on Social Security withholding so people have more money in their pockets. I'm more concerned about things that he may do that don't effect the economy. The power of Executive Orders can't be over-estimated, in my opinion.

Nobody's been saying much about immigration. I'm thinking Obama has some plans for that. If Congress won't cooperate, I'd imagine he already has plans for an Executive Order approach that'll turn people's hair grey. (But that's just me.)

I'm concerned about an unbridled Obama -- one not worrying about getting re-elected -- just wanting to implement as much of the left's agenda as he possibly can during his remaining four years. And using executive orders to get the job done.

But how worried? Not much, really. A president can only do so much.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gallup's U.S. Economic Confidence Index improved to -14 for the week ending Oct. 28, the highest level of weekly confidence in the economy since Gallup began Daily tracking of economic confidence in 2008.

Well, maybe because now he does not have to clear up the incredible mess he was left with 4 years ago.

Anyway, why would the country want to go back to the trickle down disaster that was the brain child of the last republican president? Give rich people more money and the economy will all of a sudden recover to pre-crash times and the budget will by magic be balanced all of a sudden?

No, choosing Romney is a choice to turn back the clock to the bad old days, whether it is in women's rights or the rights of all but the very rich, in a Romney presidency they will be the first victims to pay back/settle the score for the billionaires and the extreme christian/extreme right wing groups who support him.

Why do progressives answer questions with a question?

The OP's question is a legitimate and honest question, so I would suggest you answer the question or not partake in such a thread.
