The President Has Lost His Mind

Will someone please pull this man aside and tell him to Stand Down.

Obama's New Jobs Plan: Create a Secretary of Business - Katie Pavlich
Did you and the Townhall author even read the quote? It sounds like he is consolidating departments, not adding another one.

In an interview with MSNBC, the president said he wants to consolidate a number of business and trade-related agencies, creating a "one-stop shop" for oversight.

"I’ve said that I want to consolidate a whole bunch of government agencies. We should have one secretary of Business, instead of nine different departments that are dealing with things like giving loans to SBA [the Small Business Administration] or helping companies with exports," he said in an interview with MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough.

Under the president's original proposal, six different commerce and trade agencies, including the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and the Export-Import Bank, would be brought under one roof.

The president also said the SBA should be elevated to a Cabinet-level position.

So you are for multiple government agencies (9 of them) versus one? Or did you not bother to read beyond the headline?

He's rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

More paperwork and bureaucracy, to a small business environment that has already had enough.

Less paperwork and bureaucracy, less duplication of effort, less working at cross purposes. It's a good idea.

Better than a business czar I guess, take what you can get from this moron calling himself our president.

You guys are freakin' highlarious! The President proposes something that has been a Republican objective for years - reduce the number of government departments - and you decide the President is a "moron".

Reducing the number of departments and agencies that might interact with a "small business" should reduce the amount of paperwork and bureaucrats said "small business" has to deal with. You know - no duplication.

Hatred is sure making some act in irrational fashion, I must say.

Oh, so now he wants to work in a bipartisan manner. Too late.

By consolidating there will be LESS paperwork and bureaucracy.

I fail to see what this is going to accomplish, given how prodigally useful our more recent Departments have been (Education, Energy, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, etc.), but okay.

Consolidating several agencies into one is going to create more "bureaucracy"? That sounds like getting rid of bureaucracy if you ask me.

People would be surprised at what is folded into the Department of Agriculture that has zero to do with agriculture. There is a reason consolidation is not always so great.

I would say the President has tried to work in a "bipartisan manner" but whenever he has made the effort, the radicals in your preferred party have rejected him by continually moving the goalposts. You guys believe what you wish but believing something is true don't make it TRUE.

Its at least one more job. Secretary Of Business should pay pretty good and the bribes, wow, the bribes.

I want the job!

You obviously missed the Health Care Debate after Obama promised the American people it would be done in a bipartisan manner and transparent. Then we watched as republicans were locked out of meetings and Obama said "I won", and the Democrat leadership went ahead and bribed blue dog Democrats to pass the bill, which were promptly removed in the next election and the Democrats lost the House. Your turn.

I'm for lesser government which consolidating 9 agencies will do. Why are you against smaller govenrment?

Wow, all of a sudden Obama is for smaller govt. He must have "evolved" overnight like he did with gay marriage. Fascinating.
