Romney thinks that Syria is Iran's route to the sea.....

Iran has been using civilian aircraft to fly military personnel and large quantities of weapons across Iraqi airspace to Syria to aid President Bashar al-Assad in his attempt to crush an 18-month uprising against his government, according to a Western intelligence report seen by Reuters.

Earlier this month, U.S. officials said they were questioning Iraq about Iranian flights in Iraqi airspace suspected of ferrying arms to Assad, a staunch Iranian ally. On Wednesday, U.S. Senator John Kerry threatened to review U.S. aid to Baghdad if it does not halt such overflights.

Iraq says it does not allow the passage of any weapons through its airspace. But the intelligence report obtained by Reuters says Iranian weapons have been flowing into Syria via Iraq in large quantities. Such transfers, the report says, are organized by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

This is reassuring in a sense because Romney has clearly never seen Iran on a map, one he does so and realizes that its three times the size of Afghanistan, just as vast and unconquerable, and shares a land border with said country he may reconsider.his zealotry to invade.
 
WTF is it with conservatives that makes them absolutely incapable of admitting even the most gob-smackingly obvious error? Seriously, the attempts to put lipstick on this gaffe are nothing short of pathetic.

What is it with whatever you are that you cannot read, and pay no attention to the politics or layout of the ME? When Iran's ports are blocaaded as they are now, the only other port they have available is their ally's. That would be Syria.

One, Iran's ports are not blockaded, nor could they be without sparking a military conflict, and two, they have no viable means of moving cargo over land between Iran and Syria -- even if Syria wasn't in the midst of a civil war, which they are.

No, I don't think he meant anything of the kind. When someone says that country X is country Y's path to the sea, it's understood to mean that country X is landlocked and has no independent access.

Iran cannot get to Syria without passing through either Turkey or Iraq. This is like saying the California is Iran's path to the Pacific.

Against us? How would nation-building Iran, the head of the snake, turn everyone against us? The terrorist elements of Syria, Lebanon and Palestine would lose basically all of their funding and other support. With Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine no longer puppets of a terrorist regime, we would have far fewer enemies in the region.

If syria is iran's path to the ocean, then what is Iran's path to syria? This is not just wrong, this is failed grade school geography wrong. How can this guy organize the most basic of containment of iran when he isn't even aware of the hundreds of miles of coastline on both the north and south sides. Even if he did go through syria he has to get his ships through the med and that has US, european, and other hostile navy's all over it. iran's best path to the ocean is by pakistan and india. missing that is crazy bad for any military action with Iran. This is not just a mistake in the heat of the moment either. this is a long term ignorance about simple geography of a country that threatens what he thinks is the most important american ally out there. How the **** is he going to protect isreal from iran if he doesn't bother with the west bank?

How can any republican even think this guy has any business commanding the armed forces of america when he cannot even look at a friggen map and none of his advisors have pulled him aside and shown him that iran doesn't even touch syria's border? This is not a flub like saying there are 57 states, this is not spelling potato wrong, or even seeing russia from his back porch. How can the republicans even think a person who doesn't even know the basic geography if iran could be in command of the military? How could you possibly do the job? This is like being a new york taxy driver and thinking the fastest rout to the bronx in the long island expressway. This is like being a pilot trying to get from DC to LA and flying east over the ocean.

And yet i am sure we will here from the romney supporters some fantastic leap of logic on how he actually knows what the hell he is doing. If Ann coulter is right and Obama s a retard he is still better educated that romney is. under republican logic Romney is dumber than a retard.
