Leaked Debate Agreement shows both Obama and Romney are sniveling cowards

Both campaigns were ticked off about the 2nd debate because while they agreed to a strict set of rules( no redirects, interjections by the moderator ), nobody thought to have the moderator sign off on it.
 
The last Political Debate in America that had any use at all occured between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. Burr was the undisputed winner.
 
Gawker should've easily realized how they got around the reaction shots...

It stated specifically about "Cut aways". Thus, the television stations just did 90 minutes straight of a split screen, requiring no cut aways to show a reaction.

I guess that would be one way to determine the President...Of course, that's what Saddam did on a bigger scale, so....

Alll I'm suggesting is that these debates are essentially worthless. Few people pay attention, there's no way to prove who is or isn't lying, and there's nothing to ensure that their promises mean anything more than hot air. It's essentially a stand-up comedy routine, but without the humor or laughs.

I'm not suggesting we determine our POTUS via dueling; but I would like to have someone in that office who is willing to do what's necessary to protect his (and this nation's) honor if it comes to that.

This was right before the second debate, but if you doubted that the debates are just staged theater from the 2 major parties...

Interestingly, the Romney campaign agreed to the moderators ahead of time. So all the kvetching about the "Libbo moderators," well Mitt agreed to them.

This is what happens when you let the foxes manage the hen house.

The League of Women Voters used to conduct the presidential debates. Eventually, the two parties became so unreasonable in their demands for rules and procedures, that the League bowed out. Here's what they said in a press release when they declined further participation:

The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public.

They were right. And then who took it over so the parties could have absolute control? Both the Democratic & Republican Parties are in charge. And we watch theater.
 
Maggie, not that any Self-Respecting MALE candidate would actually participate in a debate sponsored by the LWV anyway. Then again, I wouldn't suggest most national-level politicians were Self-Respecing Males to begin with, so that would probably still work.
