Final 2012 Presidential Debate, Foreign Policy

Actually Carter is calling and wants his foreign policy back.

The sparring has started.

Why is Obama claiming he didn't want a SOFA?

Did Romney just say thatIraq was a bad idea?

Obama is calling Flipper on his prevaricating.

Really? "The 80s are calling and want their foreign policy back."??

The "Russia" argument actually has quite a lot of intellectual backing behind it.

Damn ... Romney had it with "Attacking me is not an agenda." He shouldn't have pushed it by responding point by point.

And second, how many things must we itemize by numbers? And third, some things just get repetitive.

Did Romney just say thatIraq was a bad idea?

rushing out the way we did was a bad idea. as demonstrated by what is happening there now.

So he says we should stll be there? Because he's claiming that's not what he said.

President Barack Obama’s announcement on Friday that all 40,000 U.S. troops still in Iraq will leave the country by New Year’s Eve will, inevitably, draw howls of derision from GOP presidential hopefuls — this is, after all, early election season. But the decision to leave Iraq by that date was not actually taken by President Obama — it was taken by President George W. Bush, and by the Iraqi government.

The Obama administration would like to keep about 3,000 to 5,000 U.S. troops in Iraq beyond the end of this year but has not begun formal discussions with the Iraqis about the size or makeup of the force, U.S. officials said.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has expressed a desire to keep some U.S. trainers in the country in 2012, past the deadline negotiated by the George W. Bush administration to remove all U.S. troops from the country.

One month later . . .

The Associated Press has learned that the Obama administration is abandoning plans to keep U.S. troops in Iraq past a year-end withdrawal deadline.

A senior administration official in Washington confirmed Saturday that all American troops will leave except for about 160 troops attached to the U.S. Embassy. The Pentagon had considered leaving up to 5,000 troops to train security forces and hinder Iranian influence. A senior U.S. military official said the withdrawal could allow future, limited U.S. military training missions if requested.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. Iraqi political leaders have rejected giving legal immunity to U.S. troops -- a deal-breaker to Washington.

I guess Romney hasn't learned what happens when we go into a country and try to put a government in place. Doing that in Syria will backfire.

I do NOT agree with that.

Fortunately this is one of those things where whether or not you agree is irrelevant. The failure of the Obama administration to negotiate a simple SOFA treaty was a disastrous example of shocking incompetence that is having atrocious effects in that nation.

they try to take over our auto industry?

Romney's wrong on Russia. He just is.

Or Reagan didnLt win it. Can't have it both ways

Obama had a good one on him, but Romneys 'attacking me doesn't help' sort of evened that exchange.

Answers on the question pertaining to Syria were nearly identical.

I guess you are not listening to the debate, as he said he did not want to be militarily involved in Syria.

Romney is TRYING to say things that he would do different. Thing is Obama is doing what the military requests. Romney cant win on this topic.

.....It is difficult to describe how nonsensical that is. Are you arguing that Russia cannot exist unless the Soviet Union does?

I wish Obama would learn from JFK when the subject is taxes.
