CNN defends Candy Crowley

In the end, it did Romney a favor. It forced CNN and others to discuss Benhazi in much greater detail, which they were trying to avoid prior.

She ended up as the fat liberal cow moderator who tried to help Obama...but couldn't.

There's no defense, she was in the tank for Obama. It was clear as day.

Erod is way off base with the criticism of her weight. I mean, wtf? That is irrelevant.

I bet Wolf Blitzer is feverishly working on a big power point graphic to put up on his board about all this as we speak.

What was Crowley wrong about?

She went way out of bounds as a neutral for the "act of terror" fact check thing. She basically tag team Romney with Obama, and was not neutral about it at all. She tried to be, but failed. She is in the tank for Obama and it showed.

Worked out well for Obama though!

I don't think it was her place to confirm or deny what either candidate was saying....however....Romney did look at Crowley and say he wanted to make sure it was on record.....he tried to score a point right at that very second and it backfired....blame Crowley or CNN but at the end of the day it was Romney who pressed for the answer.

A good moderator should call out a mistake of fact. But it was inappropriate to factcheck Mitt while he was mid sentence like that, in a way that was practically choreographed to make Obsma look good.

Why the heck did she have that transcript right in front of her anyway? Did Obama give it to her?

The partisan hackery gets worse over at CNN...

Setting the record straight is partisan hackery now?

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

Obama never portrayed the attack in Libya as a terrorist attack. Crowley was out of line when she corrected Romney. It's not the moderator's job to be a fact checker.

CNN should have issued an apology. However, they are being a stick in the mud, and so they're getting beat up for it... rightly.

What was Crowley wrong about?

That's not the moderator's job. Anyone who has followed this knows that the president didn't call it a terrorist act for at least two weeks after the attack. He was trying to run with the bs story that it had to do with some tape.

Ya know top posting is really rude.

And regardless of the tape story on Sept 12 some time between 10:43 am EDT and 10:48 am EDT from the quote provided from the Rose Garden address it is fairly clear Obama is including this incident as an act of terror.

So Obama lied to the UN when he said 6 times it was only because of a video, and his press secretary Jay Carney lied when he said it was because of a video, and Obama's UN Amabassador lied when she said it was because of a video?

Too bad Obama didn't share that with his Press Secretary and his UN Ambassador. They didn't see it as an act of terror.

I prefer top posting - I want to read new information first and, as you know, English is read top-down.

Still not the moderator's job to get involved like she did. I haven't seen any apology issued by Crowley or CNN.

From video to terrorist attack: a definitive timeline of administration statements on the Libya attack - The Washington Post

Took the entire administration two weeks to start saying, in unison, that it was a terrorist attack. Prior to that point, you had either the President, the Secretary of State, the UN Ambassador, and the Press Secretary all saying something to the effect of "protest gone bad".

Too bad Obama didn't share that with his Press Secretary and his UN Ambassador. They didn't see it as an act of terror.

ROMNEY: I want to make sure we get that for the record because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror.

September 20 -- Jay Carney:
"It is, I think, self-evident that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack. Our embassy was attacked violently, and the result was four deaths of American officials."

Can't you tell that he began his remarks by talking about the Libya event, then segued into the seemingly irrelevant general statement about "acts of terror," then in the next sentence started talking specifically about Libya again.

Also, there's a huge difference between an act of terror, and a terrorist act.

LOL.

If the NHL gets up and going, CNN is going to be nominated for the East's all-star defense.
Crowley will get nominated for star Left Winger.

The NHL doesn't do East v West All-Star games anymore. :prof

And regarding the moderation, she did fine, not the best but fine. And getting the facts out during the debate was fine, the conservative media needs to stop whining.

Can someone remind me when Obama called the attack a Fort Hood an "act of terror" or a "terrorist attack"? Anyone else remember when Obama urged everyone not to "jump to conclusions" when people were calling that an act of terror?

Jay Carney said that 9 days after it happened. You may want to look at what he was saying the previous 8 days.

Why did Susan Rice lie - and when can we expect Obama to fire her for her lies?

That is not what is at issue in the OP.

Your boy got caught lying... That's good moderation. But not only lying but being a smarmy ass about it as well.

All this whining by the right about Candy is merely butthurtedness from Romney getting caught lying.
