Obama's jutting jaw

The body language of the candidates is highly analysed, selected and rehearsed. The body language of Obama is extreme and becoming more extreme. Very annoying to me. In the debate he was leaning forward and so jutting out his jaw I'm surprised he didnt' fall over forward.

It is the famous jutting jaw body language Mussolini used. It is extreme dominance over everyone in a very arrogant statement of power over others.

Have any of you noticed that or any other annoying artificial body language for the cameras?

Obama uses his deep voice and jutting jaw to project authority | World news | The Guardian
"Similar messages about power are conveyed by Obama's body language, especially by what he does with his chin. If you watch him closely you'll spot his characteristic jaw-jut.

This makes him look visionary, like a man with his eyes fixed on the distant horizon, but its real purpose is to make him appear tough and determined, someone who can take it on the chin. It's no coincidence that the jaw-jut appeals to politicians such as Obama, because men with larger chins have higher levels of testosterone, and they're judged by others to have greater leadership potential."

Just a min ago someone was complaining that Obama was bowing to some muslim guy.

If your refering to the 2nd debate, then it's called listening. Obama was trying to hear what Romney was saying.

Junk thread - Flush these to the basement please.

In retrospect, it seems we owe them a great deal of thanks.

Not sure who you mean by "them," but Kennedy gave us the Bay of Pigs disaster and followed up with Vietnam.

Besides, Romney's as snobby and arrogant as they come anyways. Won't score any pts here.

I've noticed the jaw thing from before he was elected. I have always taken as him posing for the cameras and with his height, every photo of him will look like he is saying something profound as he looks toward heaven. He pulled out the skinny pointy finger last night which he has not done in awhile and that is bad imagery.

As much as I would love to say Obama is just terrible in every way. In this case I think it is just an instance of him portraying the position he wants to maintain. I had a friend who said Romney bullied Obama during the debates, and admittedly he did, but he was trying to prove he is capable of handling the most powerful office in this country (and one of the most influential in the world). You cannot look weak. I think that is why Obama was trying to look stronger this debate as he looked so weak in the last.

Take a look t this comparison of body language and gestures.

Body Language Expert: Romney ‘Hyperactive,’ Obama ‘Measured’ in Debate
by Lloyd Grove Oct 4, 2012 1:00 AM EDT

The pundits may be calling Denver a slam-dunk for Romney, but David B. Givens, who analyzed the candidates’ mannerisms, disagrees: the governor looked ‘aggressive and manic, simultaneously,’ while Obama was ‘cool.’

People of that ilk are usually at some point coached on body language and speaking so I suppose voice analysis might be more accurate measure if one puts stock into that sort of stuff.

New record set for dumbest thread.

Yes it is dumb in the context of politics yet body language can be fascinating.

I liked Obama's body language during the debate.

Chin body language

Jutting
The chin can be used as a subtle pointing device and a small flick of the head may give a small signal that only people in the know are likely to notice.
Jutting out the chin towards a person exposes it and says 'Go on, I dare you, try to hit me and see what happens!' This can thus be a signal of defiance, if not towards the other person then instead towards some situation or person in the conversation.
Often, when a person is feeling confident, their chin will jut out slightly
as they hold their head up and maybe tilted slightly back

jutting jaw is very bad indeed. but it's the nose you really gotta watch out for.

Palin does that jaw jut all the time, but then suddenly its cute

The candidates' body language doesn't annoy me. The media's analysis of their body language annoys me.
