Maggie posted recently on a Romney ad in Ohio featuring former Sen. George Voinovich pitching the GOP nominee to moderate votes. Team Obama's out today with its own elder-statesman Ohio ad featuring retired Sen. John Glenn, the 91-year-old former astronaut who was the first American to orbit the earth, testifying to the president's character.

“Growing up in Ohio, you learn to size up a person by their character, and that’s why I’m supporting President Obama. He stood firm against the doubters and helped rescue the auto industry. He’s taken on big corporations and foreign powers when they threatened our jobs, our freedom, our way of life,” Glenn says in the ad. “And you know he means what he says. That’s the Ohio way.”

Ohio is crucial in this election. Obama has to keep his momentum going in that state if he wants to win. Even Romney must win Ohio in order to win the election.

This is obsurd, John Glenn who never worked with Obama, giving his support. When it comes to personal accomplishments, Obama couldn't lick Glenn's shoes. Doesn't anyone remember the convulsions the Left had over Clint Eastwood? Eastwood was purely entertainment value, but this is got no value at all. John Glenn criticized the end of the space shuttle program. The real tradegy is that Obama didn't propose a real vision to follow the shuttle program. So excuse me if I think it's odd that a famous astronaut is promoting the only president not supporting space exploration.

I wasn't aware that Clint Eastwood acted in movies with Romney.

Perhaps if we redistributed some spending from our military to NASA we'd be better off, scientifically. What is Romney's plan for space exploration? Privitization?

I don't think he was. Frankly I don't know why they had him there. Glenn is being disingenous in my view.

Almost every political commercial like this is disingenuous. The whole election process is the same way.
