Obama Camp Slams Swing State Poll - Yahoo! News

The Obama campaign today blasted the latest battleground state polling that finds Mitt Romney with a five point lead among likely voters, saying the Gallup/USA Today poll has "deep flaws.""Gallup's data is once again far out of line with other public pollsters," Obama's pollster Joel Benenson wrote in a memo.
The survey of 12 key swing states finds Romney pulling ahead thanks to increased enthusiasm from women voters, a demographic that both campaigns have targeted aggressively. President Obama and the GOP nominee are tied 48 percent to 48 percent among women who are likely voters, the poll found.

Romney's been getting good results lately, but those broad swing state polls are worthless. When taking voters out of a national poll like they are you end up with a huge margin of error, in this case +/- about 6%. When you break it down by demographic like race or gender, the margin of error gets even bigger.

What you say may be true but if I were Romney I would rather be on this end of the polls then the other.

I wonder if he'd be calling it deeply flawed if it found in his favor?

I'd say other pollsters probably buckled to White House pressure to "come visit the White House and explain your methodology" something Gallup refused to do.

LOL. But, in their defense, the actual state by state polls do show it much closer in most of those battle ground states. It is just when you lump them all together in a single poll it looks like Romney has a bigger lead than he does. Of course, it is hard to know what anything means since so many people are already voting so nothing will change for them regardless of what the polls say since you cannot get a do-over on your already cast vote. Hopefully there are not a lot of swing voters at the polls yet.

good read here.. I keep telling people NJ has changed.... Libs just cant handle it...

Dick Morris is the same one who came up with that map in 2008 that had Tennessee, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Arizona Leaning or Safe Obama. I put little stock in what he says. That said, Pennsylvania and Michigan are getting closer, but Obama is still ahead. Minnesota and especially New Jersey are far out of reach.

Romney has always been doing well.

It's just that as we near the election, the pollsters know their reputation is on the line.

Thus, more real time accuracy.

You mean like Romney did when the polls were in Obama's favor?

Jersey would no sooner go for Mitt than they would have gone for George Wallace. Bet the house on it.

Yep, some people just don't have any pride and always want the govt. to take care of all their personal responsibility issues. We have a 16 trillion dollar debt that is being paid for by 53% of the income earners whereas the other 47% aren't paying any share of debt service. You must be so proud of yourself being able to shirk your responsibility, run up the debt, and then have someone else pay the debt service. That defines liberalism

Some people aren't greedy and don't mind chipping in for those less fortunate than they are. I am PROUD to be a liberal.

Even though some peeps try to beat the system and get stuff that they shouldn't be getting, I'd rather err and make sure that the poor, the sick, the old and disadvantaged get what they need than have such people do without basic necessities and medical care.

Like the stripper making $85,000 a year in tips, getting $1000 / month in EBT?

The poor lady in the nursing home with maggots in her breathing tube incision sure could use that money.

You mean like Romney giving 10% of his income?

You see that is the point though. Not wanting to be compelled to give a tax that you have no idea where it is going is not the same as being greedy. It doesn't mean you won't 'chip in' of your own will and in your own direction.

I would rather the communities take care of these old and disadvantaged in the manner they see fit. Not in the manner others see fit.

You can't take "a thousand points of light" to the bank. They won't cash THAT check...

There are all sorts of justifications to take from one and give to another.

That's why we vote and what we pay the pols to do...to decide who gets the assets and who doesn't. The rich don't need the help. They need to help more. Who built the roads, the TVA, and who and how we become a more equitable and caring society, in it's most noble form and with graft and "bridges to nowhere" and pork at it's worst.

Yes I am aware of what politicians want to be, and what sheep want them to be.
