Okham's Razor

I will come back to this ... yet because I work in healthcare I do not have time at the moment. You made some good points and a thoughtful question ...

The quick answer is McCains plan would have been an improvement yet it still did not create a competitive business model as the choice between private and public payor would have offered.

Another point is healthcare payers need enormous incentives to be competitive as they have the consumer by the balls ... it is not like any other business model ...where once dissatisfied you shop around. Once diagnosed and coming to the realization they wrote there contract for the bottom line of the insurance executive and not for your healthcare ... it is too late to shop around.

The top hospitals are not for profit and the so should the top payors. Administrative costs of 30 % added to the high cost of high tech healthcare is not solving going to resolve anything and does not improve quality health care.

A competitive market place with the all citizens responsible to have health insurance is the only answer. It will also stop the hemorrhaging of jobs because companies like Intel want to build plants where they can afford the public option insurance offered to their employees.

FYI Intel emploees have very good insurance, provided by Intel, always have. And their choice of plant location has nothing whatsoever to do with employee health insurance offerrings.
