Sorry, the number of canadians that go over the border is infintisimally small. It should be noted that in certain instances their medicare will pay for their trip and their treatment if local facilities are unavailable and its life or death.

The only supposedly socialist program that Canada has that america doesn't is single payer universal health care.

America has welfare - canada has welfare
America has food stamps - canada has similar program
america has social insurance - canda has social insurance
america has unemployment insurance - canada has same
america has VA single payer - canada has universal single pay
america has subsidized housing - canada has subsidized housing
america has industrial subsidies - canada has same
america has farm subsidies - canada has same
america has block transfer payments to states - canada has same to provinces.

Somebody want to explain how the US isn't a hybrid capitalist/socialist state? Obviously it doesn't have a socialist form of government, but neither does Canada or austrailia or the UK or any of the eurostates.

Too bad the right's anti-socialist mantra is just plain wrong and displays a certain ignorance of reality.

Ok. So if you want to go to communism democratically (so not like the USSR did after WW2 with all its sattelite states), do you have to pass through socialism or not? Because if you, then socialism is the path to communism.

The rest of what you said is meh... correct and incorrect depending on case by case basis. The pyramid scheme you think of is most likely a ponzi scheme... so not a pyramid scheme. Pyramid schemes are not illegal since they exist well and good in our society. But again, it has nothing to do with the fact that most social programs are not SOCIALIST programs. They are mostly liberal or conservative. I have already given you examples with Otto von Bismark of Germany, who was a conservative, in the XIXth cnetury. He created universal healthcare programs, retirement programs and disability pensions for the first time in human history in any civilized state. Liberals, though the names elude me now, in the XIXth century also were responsible for pushing for:

womens' right to vote
shorter work hours
paid holidays
and much more..

socialists up until now, they're greatest inventions thus far were unions and ****ty free housing programs. Socials security, universal healthcare, womens rights and other big issues are NOT their babies. They are the babies of liberals and conservatives (in European politics spectrum, not the US political spectrum).
