Is Obama the last Black POTUS we'll see in our lifetime?

I believe Obama will be the last Black POTUS we'll see in our lifetimes.

Why?

Because of the way he 'slipped' into office. Because of what he has done and not done in office. Because of how his campaign has behaved in this re-election bid. And because of how his administration and re-election campaign has divided this nation.

So, bottom line, enjoy it while you have it, Obama fans.

He's the last African American that White voters will take a chance on for a loooooong time.
Wow. My opinion of you just shifted rapidly after reading this.

And no, he probably won't be the last in my lifetime.

Well, we'll find out in a few weeks. If Obama gets reelected then hes another African American president.
My thoughts about a new President is the 'oppisite' of the White Man that has screwed this country up to possible no return is a 'Black Woman'.
My best choice for president would be a working man living on the third floor with his wife and 3 kids who pays his bills and supports his family.
Now theres someone that knows how to balance a budget!
BTW: I am a white man but i don't care what color our president is.
I just may give Obama another chance because Romney is way out of touch with 90% of Americans.

Are you sure it's not 91%

Why would that post cause you to change your opinion of me?

It's not like I was saying Israel should be wiped off the map or something.

If Obama had been elected without regard to his being Black, it would have been a great event for America.

The fact that Obama was elected, by some because he was Black, and by others without regard to his race, is still a moderate achievement for our country.

In either case, it was not really an achievement by Obama himself, he was more of a empty riding along shell, having done little to deserve or cause his own election.

America elected what it wanted to see in Obama, not what was really present. We elected our racial blindness aspirations, not the real man of Barrack Obama.

In any case, Obama has done much to earn his own defeat in 2012.

We will eventually have another Black president, but I suspect it will be a very lone time before we have another Leftist Black President.

When people reveal their racism, my opinion of them always changes. It changes even more when they don't even have the balls to admit their racism.

Well, an even dumber illogical theory is that of thousands of Black tweeters who tweet that should Obama lose they will riot in the streets and/or try to assassinate President Romney.

If they make good on their threats to riot or worse, depending on how bad things get it might leave a lasting impression in the minds of millions of good, peace-loving Americans of ALL colors.

your dishonesty and ignorance or reality and what is actually being discussed is staggering, it both hilarious and sad at the same time.

Well, at least you are witholding your final judgment of me, I see. I'm serious. Or else you wouldn't care if I admitted it or not. And, by the way, I do not admit it.

I'm recognizing the existence of race related motivators in this campaign, on both sides, and I am predicting how some racially motivated non-Blacks will think and behave as a result of these last three + years and the prediucted civil unrest by Blacks when Obama loses.

That's not racist on my part.

I think we may change the law and relect Obama for a 3rd term. Barring that, Hillary will be our next President.
It will be a long long time before a Republican get's the chance to ruin our economy again like Bush did.

This presumes he was elected because of his race and therefore symbolizes what a black President represents. This on top of thinking America thinks he's a failure as POTUS. No offense intended but IMHO some people just don't get it.

As far as race goes, Obama's election to the Whitehouse does not mean America wanted to try a black guy. What it means is most people don't care what race a person is any longer. Of course, most people doesn't mean everyone but enough to get someone elected, 50% plus 1 and its growing. Actually more than that because there were obviously many who don't care what race he is but voted against him for other reasons.

The generation who grew up in a segregated America is being replaced with a generation who did not. When I say segregated, I don't mean just statutory segregation that ended in the mid 60s but cultural segregation that went on longer. This generation sat next to each other in class. Some of the smart kids were black, some of the kids who needed extra help were not black. They listened to and enjoyed music from all races. Their favorite TV shows and movies starred black and white actors. Their favorite teacher might have been black or might have been white. They watched the news and saw anchors and reporters of all races. When they got jobs their co-workers were of all races and sometimes so was their boss. If they joined the military their fellow servicemen were of all races and so was their Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Their neighbors were of all races. Their police officers were of all races. Their favorite sports teams were made up of all races. Then the election 2008 came, a black person was on the ballot who inspired people and guess what? People were so use to living in a society where blacks and whites lived together they honestly didn't care that he was black except to think for a minute that history is about to be made. Four years later he's reelected and again the only factor race is playing is a lot of black and Hispanic voters are fired up because they see what looks to them like deliberate efforts are being made by one of the parties to keep them from voting and/or resent feeling persecuted for their ethnicity in some states by a party that doesn't want to see them as equally American.

So to answer the question of whether we'll see another black POTUS in our lifetime, I don't know. It depends on who runs. I'd compare that question to will we see another blonde POTUS or Californian POTUS or balding POTUS or...

The hell I hope not! He may be however, the least half white president. :peace In all though, for him to be considered the first black president is sad considering his policies and convictions.

I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't say for sure. But how is anything he did different than Bush...and no one was saying Bush would be the last white POTUS we'll see in our lifetimes. So maybe let's keep the stupid to a minimum.

I believe obama will be the last black potus for quite awhile...I dont think theres anyone popular enough of color to step into that role right at the moment and it would take a very unique black individual to overcome some of the obvious obstacles...timing is everything.
Dont be surprised if you see an hispanic president first....lets also keep something else in mind here...everyone focus's on Blacks, Women, Latinos being Potus...We have never had a Jewish or Italian Potus either...and italians at one time were the largest ethnic group in the country.

White voter voted as a majority against him. I think you have it wrong...Bush was the last President that was or will be elected by whites in America. I hope you enjoyed it, the Presidency is going to look like America...white/black/hispanic/asian/Indian etc

Lets not be hasty here and lets be honest...for quite awhile in the future whites will have the greatest influence in elections...obama didnt get re elected because blacks and latinos voted for him...he got elected because 39% of all whites voted for him...lets remember that.
No one can get elected without white votes....You can get elected with all white votes....now please no one go off on a rant about me being a racist or calling this a racist statement...its merely mathmatics....will whites ever vote as a solid block...NO.

I'm not saying white voters don't matter, I'm saying that who wins the white vote doesn't determine who becomes President. Romney won a large % of white votes. A large portion of whites still voted for Obama, but the Obama electorate is a coalition of different groups while the Romney voting base was white voters.

If this was 1970 and he won that percentage of white voters he would of sweeped the country. This country is changing and the color of the skin of future presidents will reflect that. I think the idea he's the last black President during my life time is ridiculous.
