Big Oil shoots Obama the finger!

I have no idea what your talking about sharon :) Heres what I do know...big oil makes obscene profits at their will and its absolutely ridiculous and poliitical thievery to give them tax payer subsidies while they laugh uproariously as they ROB us at the pump....it doesnt take rocket science to know the whole big oil thing is created BS and blatant thievery

Do you also know that the US has the highest lift costs in the world and always has? Baby steps.

He won't get rid of all EPA regulations. But, he has suggested that he wants to deregulate coal, increase the use of fracking, and he has said that he opposes the Clean Air Act, because he doesn't believe carbon emissions are harmful, saying "I don't think carbon is a pollutant in the sense of harming our bodies."

Can you provide a link to that quote. Deregulating coal does not mean absolutely no regulations. Hyperbole much?

Stop being so immature "rebel," "liberal owners" get serious dude, the world has enough ignorant pricks without more wandering around with that smug arrogant that they know better than everyone else.

I'll call them "liberal owners" Christ they have the most destructive policies of any state, as a result businesses flee to states like Texas, where their policies are pro-growth. California is controlled by liberals from the top down, and is 20 billion in debt and wants to raise taxes to pay teachers union benefits. All the liberal owners want to do is raise taxes, pander to the teachers unions, impose regulation that runs businesses off to another state. And impose regulations on it's residents that the liberal owners love in controlling the people. Yes, California is owned by it's "liberal owners"

I can see the results of liberalism that somehow got off the leash.
Californians deserve the misery they are getting. I wish every liberal could live in California and experience the utopia that happens when liberals get loose.

You guys always make messes.

Uh, wasn't there recently a refinery fire in California? Wasn't there also a power outage at another refinery in California within a week of the refinery fire? If so, then in wouldn't that create a greater demand in the California market and thus wouldn't prices follow demand? I'm trying to figure out the conservative response here.
Why have liberals created such a fragile economy to the point where a fire causes six dollar per gallon gas?

LOL. Excuses are awesome. I bet every liberal has a handful for all occasions.

Oh look, a conservative rooting for bad things for America in hopes for political gain. meh... nothing new here.
LOL. I am delighted when the fruits of liberalism become food for the dumb masses who elect them to positions of power. California is reaping what it has sown. Let them eat ten dollar per gallon gasoline. This is what happens when the people encourage tyranny.

This is a petty peeve of mine that "PISS's" me off....anyone that believes gas prices are on the up and up is a damn FOOL in my opinion.
They raise the price of oil and gas at will for MASSIVE PROFITS....there is absolutely NO REASON gasoline has been up this high except to manipulate voters by keeping the misery index up and "GREED" There is absolutely NO DEFENSE for an industry to get billions in subsides from the same taxpayers they "ROB" at the pump at will....and an industry that makes hundreds of billions in profits and breaks a new profit record everytime they SCREW the people that pay for their subsidies.
Big oil subsidies started decades ago and the purpose was for them to build new refineries to increase capacity..DECADES later not only didnt they build any new refineries they havent expanded any and every friggin spring they raise the prices SKYHIGH and the excuse is they have to do maintenance on their refineries and cant keep up with demand....If you believe their "CRAP" then your a damn fool...PERIOD
lpast, can you tell me how much the government's take on a gallon of gas is? Can you tell me how much the profit margin is on that same gallon?
The thief is the government. I believe you already know it.
I am disappointed with has to be either wilful ignorance or dishonesty.

Dude, allow me to direct you to the left of the screen and request that you slowly read and attempt to comprehend my lean. It says Independent. Now I realize in your world that in order for you to feel secure, you require everything to be black or white, good or bad, right or wrong, etc. Labels are critically important to people such as yourself. Unfortunately, I don't fit into your boxes.

Also to note that our fragility or whathaveyou of our economy didn't make the $6 per gallon thingy... speculators who sit at home praying that a war breaks out in the middle east or praying that a hurricane goes into the gulf of mexico or a pipeline burst or anything bad to the oil supply lines...

no wait... it's Obama's fault. That's much easier than using a brain.

Mitt Romney: Carbon not a health threat - Darren Samuelsohn - POLITICO.com

Romney has been very back and forth as far as energy and the environment.

How is this not true?

To the extetnm the EPA is using a mandate to regulate toxic emissions in order to regulate carbon, that is a classic example of regulatory over-streach or "mission creep". Carbon is not a toxic emmittance like arsenic or mercury. Sure it contributes to warming the planet (I'm definitely not going to fight you on that one), but the proper response then is to regulate it as such under specific legislation and regulations created thereunder.

You have a checks and balances system. What that means, unlike say in Canada where a majority party, elected with 40% of the popular vote, can get whatever it wants through the house and most everything it wants through the senate, is that your system is supposed to require approval for new law from both branches of your legislature and your executive.

But when you have a regulator, whether motivated by the executive or otherwise, which purposely manipulates language and common sense to expand their mandate, even if it is for the "right" reasons, it does a great deal of harm to the system. After all, at some point the same mechanism pioneered to extend a regulator's power is going to be used by that or a different regulator in the "wrong" way (with right and wrong being subjective in this case to the person proposing political expediency to facilitate a policy).

At some point, the Romans went from a complete prohibition on any violence towards fellow senators to it being totally ok to raise mobs to beat opponents to death in the streets. Obviously not the same thing in extent, but illustrates the point that political norms are important.

And I'll say it again. Sure, carbon is bad. But it is not a toxin. And it should not be regulated as such, pursuant to a statutory mandate authorizing a regulator to regulate toxins.

It's called disaster capitalism. Naomi Klein wrote the book on it, literally. It was published before the Wall Street fit hit the shan. Klein nailed it in a well documented prediction based on Wall Street and more specifically corpgov's past.

It is possible to lie to oneself. It is not possible to successfully lie to the rest of us. Acceptance of your condition is the first step toward recovery.

Uh-huh. It is three or four decades of idiotic liberal policies that have ruined California. I am so glad I left when it was still possible to escape.

To which you responded with this...

Why not just admit that you have no idea how much money the government takes?
Why not just admit you have no idea what the profit margin is on a gallon of gas?

Obama-drones...they are everywhere.

Do you believe the Republican-in-name-only was anything other than a liberal?
He was a slight improvement over Davis. Slight.

One cal lie to oneself but one cannot escape the fate one deserves when one sows the wind. The whirlwind has come.

Here's half the problem - and a point you cannot seem to comprehend - there is one America with many political views. America is not liberal, conservative and feckin illegals, as you seem to believe. Those of you who must live in a strictly conservative or liberal America are going to be forever sucking hind tit. The American ideal is, if anything, a compromise for all of us. Keeping sucking if you can't man up. Your choice.

I love this classic Republican logic fail. It's now well established that Republicans cannot fail. Therefore, any Republican who fails must be a Republican-in-name-only! Bush? RINO! McCain? RINO! Ahnold? RINO! And it's perfecty predictable that Romney will be a RINO. The only mystery is whether he will get the label this November or in November of 2016.

And what could he do with a totally controlled extreme liberal legislature, and the teachers unions telling them what to do. The liberal owners of California drove that state into 20 billion in debt and raising taxes is on the November ballot to pay for teacher union pensions. Businesses and it's residents are leave that state not because it's a great place to do business because it's not. The residents are tired of being taxed to death, over regulated, and having to pay the highest gas prices in the country. But the liberal owners are too stupid to figure any of this out, so they sit there oblivious to the debt they created and say "hey lets raise taxes" not just tax the rich but also raise the sales tax to **** everybody. Like that won't shove more businesses and it's residents out of the state. Those liberal owners are idiots.

Geeeee T, you need to look around the country and see the liberal owners of states that are in the tank, vs those that are conservative and thriving, and the ones that some of the stats pulled in conservative governors to get their state turned around from collapse. Does Scott Walker or "Chris" Christie come to mind.

In the debate, Obama went after Big Oil declaring he wants to cut off tax breaks to big oil.

Romney responds:
that the country runs on oil,
that he won't cut the tax deductions,
that Obama gave massively more to green-energy (Romney declaring it a failure),
that Obama has not allowed 1 new oil lease on federal land,
that Romney is going to open up federal land including Alaska and offshore drilling, and
that this will raise huge revenue for lease royalties for the federal government to help address the growing deficit...

for which Obama remained totally silent on allowing any new drilling it reasonable to conclude Obama will continue to not allow any new drilling offshore or on federal land.

Hmmmm, which one of those two candidates would Big Oil prefer???

Within 72 hours, gasoline and diesel prices jumps up to as high as $5.50 per gallon! A nearly 50% increase!!

Why, oh why, do I NOt think this is to HELP Obama's re-election?

I think Big Oil just responded to Obama a big F U!

Yeah, those mega profit price gouging corporations do hate to lose their corporate welfare.

Not exactly true at all.

Most Red States Take More Money From Washington Than They Put In | Mother Jones

. . .

This gap between political perception and fiscal reality is also reflected in the distribution of tax dollars at the state level: Most politically "red" states are financially in the red when it comes to how much money they receive from Washington compared with what their residents pay in taxes.

A look at 2010 Census and IRS data reveals that the 50 states and the District of Columbia, on average, received $1.29 in federal spending for every federal tax dollar they paid. That means that some states are getting a lot more than they put in, and vice versa. The states that contributed more in taxes than they got back in spending were more likely to have voted for Obama in 2008 and were more likely to be largely urban. (There are some clear exceptions: For instance, New Mexico, a rural, Democratic state, gets more federal money per tax dollar than any other state.)

These three interactive maps break down the split between the spenders and lenders. Click on any state for more detailed data, including each state's per capita ratio of spending received versus taxes paid and where it ranked when the Tax Foundation ran the 2005 numbers.

Red states get more federal tax dollars than the democratic blue states.
