A new low [W:101]

I wave to my garbageman every once in a while.

Id wager that union employee makes more money than you. He has health care through AFSCME (He IS union...I checked but feel free-AFSCME.org). He has a retirement plan. He doesnt 'lift' 15 tons a day. He drives around in his air conditioned truck and I'm sure he does his job well. The union is doing what unions do...lying and shilling and tugging on those heart strings for the democrats.

well none of that really matters to me and I dont think that this will impact anybody that hasnt decided who to vote for.

I had a buddy that worked for them he made 21$ an hour, decent benefits and great bonuses that no one could ever earn .
Has far as an air conditioned truck? it may have been but every time I see the trucks the windows are down (for communication) and one guy doesnt ride in the cab he rides on the outside.

but again this is of no impact to me and yes some union jobs are out of control and some people dont realize that their unions if poorly run actually put them out of work.

there are toll both workers here that make 25$ an hour? that is to high of a pay for a cashier IMO

unions are great but there are many times when they are equally as bad.

At least in modern times; the post-Colonial period was pretty nasty, too.

But really, how many of you go out and hug your garbagemen? I already know the answer: zero. Not one of you. 99% of you don't know their names or even notice if it's the same guys from week to week, if you ever see them at all.

Are You Kidding Me? Romney’s Garbage Man Blasts Him In New Political Ad | Mediaite

San diego has those automated trucks.

Nobody has picked up garbage cans here in years.

I have seen hand loading of green waste, but i think thats to allow them to check for actual.garbage. and thats paid service not city.

La Jolla has city trash.

A new low.

I also don't shake hands with the guy who empties the septic tanks and I would think he gets paid better than a garbage man.

That's hilarious. I wonder if they bothered to check La Jolla's service website, which is managed by the city of San Diego.

If they had, they would find that Mitt Romney's garbage is picked up on Monday's by a truck, with an automated pick up arm. I'm sure running the joystick on that sure does hurt his back.

Beat me to it!

And all of that is irrelevant to the lie that is the campaign ad. Obviously the union thinks there are still some who havent decided because they are creating the ads (plural).

(I wonder if they are using a union film crew and paying the actors union wages for their time)

I would just about bet money that that particular garbage man is a union employee and nowhere NEAR the '47%'...

Don't know if it's union, but it does pay a good middle class.salary.

Very few people in the world deserve 'dude', bigot.

Spare me the false outrage. You make a comment attempting to paint a guy who could probably make you cry in five minutes as effeminate(which isn't trolling because you are the one doing it) and then get offended when it's returned in kind. We get it, like Romney you have an intense disdain and fear of those who actually work for a living instead of pushing paper. What is ironic is the right takes an ad that is probably only marginally effective and somewhat over the top and validates it by showing that IS exactly how many of them feel about people who perform vital if unglamorous services.

I have 5 garbage men

2 on the recycling trucks (Joel and Tim)

3 (in rotation only two at a time) on the garbage truck (Frank, Jared, Shane)
Sounds like a very different set of circumstances than where I live. Our trash is collected before 7 AM and the men that do it -- while courteous and professional -- don't stop to talk. The truck stops maybe once for every two houses and they keep that lift arm moving as much as possible, which means one guy is running over to the neighbors or across the street while the other is loading/unloading at the house. That truck starts moving before the second guy is done running back. It's really quite impressive.

oooooooooh, well I wasnt defending the ad, I didnt even watch it I just read posts.

I was just stating how I treat my garbage men and mail people and that its just what "I" do. I would never judge others if they didnt do it like I do and I think its meaningless but you should never be disrespectful to them.

as far negative ads that are truthful of not  this happens all the time by people on both sides.

Here in PA there are spots for both Mitt and Barack with claims of them shipping jobs over seas and basically wanting to kill grandma. LOL

weird how do they both do that and want to do that? politics is lost in many ways :(

No outrage at all, bigot. Just pointing out how you eagerly jumped into a conversation with nothing more than a bigoted statement. But outraged? Pah. Couldnt care less about your comment, or for that matter, that you are a bigot. Dont know you, dont have to live with or associate with you.

I got that...just pointing out the union. Its front page on their website.

I'm basically pro union, but BS is BS. And homey don't lift no trash in LaJolla.

these guys dont usually stop either, if I need them I have to stop them, they are movers and shakers! lol

. The recycle guys are early sometimes even before i am up the garbage guys usually come around 6:15 to 6:45)

my truck also stops once for about 2-3 houses depending on driveway/garbage can location.

the residential trucks dont have a lift arm. they do have a side loader for the cans that one person cant handle alone though.

and I agree it is actually impressive what they get done.

If you read the entire thread, that wasn't the first comment. There was a snarky one before that. Sorry(not really) I didn't treat the mass panty bunching of conservatives over an ad with the sobriety you obviously feel it merited. I defy you to explain how your "skinny girl jeans" post added anything of substance to the conversation. Like I told a Tea Party fanatic on FB today over the voter ID law, the conservatives are losing what little sense of humor they ever had now that Romney is flailing impotently and appears doomed to failure.

Willie Horton was the new low, this doesn't begin to come close... fact is one of the 47% is letting Willard know he still matters, even if only for a minute... unlike the bogus 'Joe the Plumber' charlatan.

When I was outside Philly the yard waste crew showed me how to bundle up branches so they accept them, the garbage crew came very early but I did the ol' tape an envelope to the trash/yard waste/recycle container each Christmas.

Don't have to know their name to say thank-you.

I insulted your skinny jeans...didnt I. I apologize...

Might want to return that crystal ball for a refund. I'm strictly a relaxed fit person these days. Do you even realize how hypocritical it is for you to call someone else a bigot or troll when you insinuate homosexual slurs whenever someone shows how shallow your posts are?

Wait...did you just call boys that wear skinny jeans gay???

No, I said that was what you were trying to imply when you accused first the man in the ad and then me of wearing them. It's pretty obvious unless you routinely make non topical observations and speculations on someone's apparel choices. Now, fulfill my appraisal of you and deny that was your intent like a coward.

Nowhere did I even REMOTELY imply he was gay or that skinny jeans implied gay. That's ALLL you baby. Own it

Thank you for confirming your cowardice. Can you explain exactly what you did mean and what pertinence to the thread your musings concerning his clothing tastes have then?
