I think the service I receive will be more responsive, will be more readily available and I will be treated better. Of course this assumes that VA-provided medical care will not be treated the same way as Medicare and Medicaid where the doctors and the hospitals are cheated to the point where they refuse to see me. Medicare and Medicaid are like canaries in the mine.

I help a lot of guys in there regarding "fee basis" which is care provided off site in a privatized manner for various reasons. It is an absolute mess. The VA is viewed with disdain and the providers do not understand how fee basis works they get frustrated and then do not wish to treat these veterans. Privatization also means a decrease in available services with a possibility of unwarranted cut offs. Moreover, there is a move toward making PTSD a injury for veterans filing now rather treating it as a they do now as chronic. This does not serve the veteran in a way that speaks to health care, but, only serves to save money for the government leaving the veteran still in need of adequate and continued medical services.

Clearly you have a point of view.

Fee basis sounds like the same thing that medicare and medicaid do. The government incuding the VA makes it as difficult as possible for doctors and hospitals and then you guys wonder why things are going wrong. I assume that privatizing the care so that the VA is more like any other health insurance pool will bring the VA delivered experiences more into line with other major insurance providers. Of course all of that goes out the window once Obamacare is fully implemented.

Who are you guys?

Anyway, my point of view is based on actual experience, I do not get paid for this. I help these guys out because I can and they cannot adequately defend their own interests. The "fee basis" personnel are bean counters not medical personnel, so they ask the veteran to justify the reason for the medical care the doctors rarely get involved because they do not know about the cut off of the funds until much later than needed.

The problem with medicare and per procedure payments is that they also limit the number of procedures a doctor can bill per visit so the doctors schedule patients for more visits just to be able to do all the tests/bloodwork they think is needed and it is a pain for many seniors with mobility/transportation issues to have to go to the doctor every week or two weeks just to get everything they should be able to get in 1 visit.

I'm on medicare and I get better care now than I did when I was on my employer's insurance plan. I wish my husband could get medicare. No insurance will cover his pre-existing condition. My grand daughter was on medicaid when she devloped a condition that would cause her to go blind if not treated. She was treated very will by the medical community. Now that Obamacare is in effect, she will be able to have her condition taken care of without worrying that an insurance company won't cover her pre-existing condition. I think Healthcare has improved much more under government administration than it was in the private sector.

My point is focused on the REALITY that people, by not voting for Romney (whether he is an ideal candidate or not) ..... they are, in effect, making the likelihood of a POS elected more probable.
