This entire post is ridiculous. It's entirely misconceived, fallacy riddled concept is built upon a foundation of pure and utter ignorance of the realities of the situation. Let me explain.
That would be a wasted vote considering Johnson has absolutely no chance to win.
This is a statement made from a basis of complete assumption, because it's a statement being made regarding the "wasted" notion of the vote without any understanding or knowledge of what Kori views as important about his vote.
If the reason you are voting is
only due to your desire to see the person you vote for win...then yes, voting for Johnson is almost assuredly a "wasted" vote.
If the reason you are voting is because you wish to vote based on your principles, and Gary Johnson is closest to those, then it is NOT a wasted vote because it's inline with what you desire from your vote.
If the reason you are voting is because you wish to vote for a person you believe will be a benefit to this country, and you feel Johnson will be while feeling that Romney and Obama wouldn't be, then again it is NOT a wasted vote because it's inline with what you desire from your vote.
If the reason you are voting is as a means of protest, to demonstrate your displeasure with the Republican nominee by showing them a tangable negative effect...your defecting to a 3rd party...due to the parties selection, then again it is not a wasted vote.
If the reason you are voting is in hopes of forging the potential for the LONG TERM health of this country, by attempting to force the Republican party to focus on fiscally conservative individuals in word AND deed through protest voting currently, at the expense of SHORT TERM health...then again, your vote is not wasted.
Operating on a basis of ignorance concerning what Kori's purpose is with his vote makes one incapable of actually stating whether or not his vote is a "waste".
Obama is a reckless clown who needs to be fired. I don't believe this is the correct election to be casting protest ballots.
Good for you.
You do not make decisions for everyone. Your personal
feelings are not
facts. Because
YOU disagree does not make something someone ELSE chooses to do "wasted".
Casting a ballot of Johnson is the same as casting a ballot for Obama...
Again, this is born from a complete lack of understanding of reality, in this case the voting process.
Casting a vote for Obama does a few things.
For one, it is a physical representation of you stating "I support Barack Obama being President of the United States". For two, it provides an actual vote that adds to the total numbers provided for Obama.
Casting a vote for Johnson is a physical representation of you stating "I support Gary Johnson being President of the United States". It also provides an actual vote that addes to the total numbers provided for Gary Johnson.
"I support Barack Obama being POTUS" is not "The same" as stating "I support Gary Johnson being POTUS"
Adding 1 to the total votes for Barack Obama is not "The same" as adding 1 to the total votes for Gary Johnson.
Not only are you earlier attempting to provide your opinions as if they're some unquestionable fact, but you are now trying to present flat out falsehoods as actual fact.
I support Johnson's politics 100% but I know he has (sadly) no chance of winning this election. I'm using my vote to get that ignorant clown Obama out of office...
So it appears
YOUR view of your vote is not one based on principle, but on practicallity. That you care not for whether or not you can actually support, trust, or back the person you're voting for as president, but rather whoever has the best chance of beating the person you like the least. You care not for putting your voice behind someone who you actually principly support, but rather who is practically able to beat the person you least support.
There's nothing wrong with that, but there's nothing inherently "better" or less "wasted" about your vote than anyone elses.
As a libertarian I believe our goal should be to remove Obama rather than elect Romney - that is just the way I see it and I will do just that with my vote.
And you're free to do that. That's the glorious thing about an individuals vote....it's
YOUR vote. You're able to cast it based on what's most important to YOU. You're able to use your singularly important right as a citizen to stake your claim on the direction this government should go. You should apply whatever criteria's are most important to you to determine how you cast that vote.
And so should everyone else.
The only WASTED vote would be someone casting a vote not based on what's important to them, not based on what they personally feel is the right direction, but rather because they are being bullied, shamed, or forced to vote in that direction.
