Meaningful, Mr. Wiggen. And glad I could entertain you. Thanks for your insightful opinion. Too bad you don't add anything, you know, intellectual to the thread. It doesn't take a right-wing zealot to recognize that poor black communities are being segregated, paid off into silence, shot down on the streets like dogs, and having their families destroyed by a system who rewards single mothers with a paycheck.

Your point is what? That more black people are poor than white people on a percentage basis? Really? No kidding! You'd think with the wonderful start white American gave them - you know, slavery for the first 200 years and then Jim Crow for the next 100 or so, they'd be right up there with those white folks!

Well, I can see the problem is that those black folks don't listen to right wing middle class white people in order to solve their problems. The key is obviously to take food stamps and other assistance away from them and give that money to white people like Mittens wants to do - especially rich white people.

I'm always amused by the arrogance of those white folks who presume to tell black people what they're doing wrong.

You are a very bitter person, Wiggen. Too bad. If you have another answer as to why black kids can't play on their porches without getting shot, getting shot on their couches while watching TV, getting shot on the street corners, getting shot while walking to school? Let's hear it. 'Cause they can sure do all those things in my neighborhood without getting shot. Know why? 'Cause we'd call out the freakin' National Guard if that **** was happening in a white neighborhood.

Trickle down economics works - people just want to have to work. The problem is many are more than content with the free government money.... Why bother working 40 hours at a legit job for 320 a week when the government will give you 300 - not to mention while you sit on your butt selling dope.

That's how it is around here where I live.

Around here chicks get pregnant and refer to their babies as "Obama money" - it upsets the hell out of me... The baby isn't an individual or a person - no the child is $$$$$.

Go research the history of the democrat party and you will see who was doing all the lynchings... At one point the KKK and the democrat party in the south were one in the same. The second the democrats started USING BLACKS FOR THEIR VOTE the dixicrats were born via opposition - yeah they really hated the blacks.

I thought this was common historical knowledge, apparently not.

An employee of mine was shot in a "white neighborhood". A stray bullet came through her window.

It was Democrats, but back in the 1800's the Democrats were the conservatives and the radicals were Republicans. You should look up what "conservative" means vs. "radical" and get back to us. Here's a primer -- conservatives want to keep the existing social order, radicals want to shake it up. In the 1800s, keeping slavery intact was, in fact, a far more conservative stance than abolition.

No... Democrats are an offshoot of the Federalists and republicans are an offshoot of Democratic-Republicans....

I suppose neo-cons are a different story but the aforementioned is correct.....

On the contrary, I'm a great fan of urban sprawl. If Maggie were in charge, all those foreclosed homes would have been bought by investors given special terms (with all that useless bailout money we spent), and we'd Section 8 whole neighborhoods into the suburbs. Shut 'em down. They're cesspools.

As to your anecdotal story of your employee, there's no doubt it happens -- but it happens every single day in the city of Chicago.

It's so good to see you caring about "black" neighborhoods with a black president. I'll see if I can find such "passionate" quotes from you regarding this problem when there was a Republican President.

Uh... what did she say about Obama? She didn't say anything about him except that his middle name is "Hussein" and he's a socialist. She was talking about how she thought it was disgraceful that "the black community" sits around doing their nails because they don't have to struggle in order to get by, like the black community did during the civil rights movement. That's a pretty horrible sentiment, IMHO. This is what Romney says about "personal responsibility," by which he means "don't ask why I cater only to the lobbyists and corporations who have paid for my campaign, and not to you or your family or anybody you know." Yes, Romney will make me such a great person by ignoring my best interests, I can't wait to vote for him.

I do realize that "Pam" was vaguely making some kind of connection between Obama's policies and the lack of personal initiative out there today. So why didn't the generation who grew up with FDR turn out like lazy socialists? Pam was correlating the black community's struggle for civil rights and their later accomplishments, which is pretty ridiculous. Statistically speaking, she's dead wrong. Her judgements are formed by selective attention to the details that best fit her preconceived notions of "how it used to be" versus "oh how it's different now." Romney will surely play on people like Pam and use them to show all Americans that we should vote against our best interests because what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

How about the billion dollar individuals funding Romney's Super PAC have their health care taken away from them, and they can live in inner-city Detroit? It will make them much better individuals, they're so spoiled these days and have forgotten how hard it was for their millionaire parents who had to walk three miles, every day in the snow, just to get to the board room.

If you live on section 8 (welfare?) who cant? you only get food stamps to boot so that is free - you get furnishings and free internet and other utilities.... Who can't live on 300-500 free spending cash a weeK? it's not like they have to pay bills - everything is taken care of.

That's funny. I haven't heard about the National Guard being dispatched to Chicago. Urban sprawl has spread that gun violence all over the state. This includes my city which is one of the safest in the country. I wish the solutions were simple, but they aren't.
