President Obama acknowledged in a "60 Minutes" interview that sometimes his own campaign has gone "overboard" in making its case against Mitt Romney — taking some responsibility for a presidential race marked by accusations of inaccuracies on both sides.

"Do we see sometimes us going overboard in our campaign — are there mistakes that are made or areas where there's no doubt that somebody could dispute how we are presenting things? You know, that happens in politics," Obama admitted during a portion of the interview posted online Sunday, when asked about the faults independent fact checkers have found in both campaigns' ads.

One of the most criticized ads of the election season came from the pro-Obama super PAC, Priorities USA Action, which suggested that Romney was indirectly responsible for a woman's death from cancer.

Obama, who didn’t address that particular ad, took responsibility for approving most of his campaign’s message.

"Well actually, the truth of the matter is, Steve, that the vast majority of my ads have been under my name and I've approved them," Obama said, arguing that much of the message is a positive one.

overboard, huh?

when was that?

could he be alluding to groundless accusations of felonies, african americans in chains, anonymous phone calls charging romney with paying no taxes, bain the vulture, bain the vampire, a trumped up war on women?

hey, it happens in politics, sometimes elbows are sharp

especially when you're president of the united states

hope and change, anyone?

"We'll continue doing what we have been doing, trying to get the president's message out on the ground. Whether it's in the suburban areas of Northern Virginia, or Denver, Ohio, to talk about what the president wants to do in the future. That's the other thing that you find most often with women. They're not really concerned about what's happened over the last four years, they really want to know what's going to happen in the next four years," Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said to guest host Susan Page on the Diane Rehm Show today.

Don't forget about Romney's war on the poor.

How low one can go? Well, I just have to look at all the stellar republican campaign video's, assertions and claims have made during this and previous campaigns. That is how low people can go.

You really think no one was harmed or even died earlier than they would have otherwise as a result of all the companies Romney's firm made profits on from closing? Who is living in Fantasyland now? People suffer all kinds of emotional and psychological issues as a result of the loss of employment even without considering the concurrent loss of health coverage. Then we have the typical right wing double standard. Super PACs are great until they are used against our anointed one. And you folks have the gall to call liberals crybabies.

Don't forget about Romney's war on the poor.

I heard Romney wants to use the poor as a food supply as is the ancient Mormon custom. Or provide them food through charity. I mix those two things up.

Every campaign seems to get dirty by the end. It's a game of chess for politicians...make your move and see how the public reacts to it. The first player who strikes forces their opponent to play cleanup duty and uphold their reputation. You can look through any campaign, any state, any office for that matter down to local government and see this at play. Their sole goal is to find some issues for their opponent to stumble on and call a checkmate. Obama recognizes this and decided to strike first. The problem for Romney is he isn't helping his campaign by opening his mouth and adding fuel to the fire.

By the time the elections come, we are going to see the worst in both candidates.

Oh, we all know this. Heck...one only has to look at Obama's 2008 campaign to see the effectiveness of dirty tricks.

Of course, back then you wouldn't have heard him admit such a thing.

I don't know if he's slipping...or he just doesn't care who knows it this time around.

Do we then get to use that wide standard for what Obama's policies are doing to put people out of work? How about the thousands that lost their jobs from their dealerships closing? Coal mines and power plants? Oil rig workers?

Thats right....liberal only measure outcomes for Republicans, not themselves because they have good intentions. The road to hell is paved with em.

There's a difference between what a business must do for survival(close dealerships) and what Bain specialized in which is essentially killing a company and selling the body for medical experimentation. As for oil and coal workers, any statistics that show how many of those workers have lost their jobs due to Obama's policies? I'm only asking since domestic energy production has increased during his first term.

At least he admits it. More than I can say for Romney who will admit nothing!

Provide them food through his church while simultaneously taking food away from those who don't go through his church. If he really cared about feeding people, he wouldn't be opposed to food stamps.

President Barack Obama's job-creation package effectively fell to pieces on Monday as a top Republican lawmaker said the House of Representatives will only pass portions of the $447 billion measure. Link

Hi, everybody. Last week, without much fanfare, Members of the House of Representatives banged a gavel, turned out the lights, and rushed home, declaring their work finished for now....

Members of Congress left a whole bunch of proposals sitting on the table - actions that would create jobs, boost our economy, and strengthen middle-class security. Link

Not sure why you would say that.

I wasn't aware that the Mormon Church was the only charity in this country. I also wasn't aware that Romney proposed the abolition of food stamps.

The mormon church is where Romney is required to "donate" 10% of his income. There are other charities, but even in aggregate, they are incapable of providing the same broad level of service. If charities could do the job, we would have never created social programs in the first place. Often times, religious charities also include an element of evangelism or in some cases, bigotry.

Romney thinks too many lazy people are leeching off the government, and Ryan's budget (which Romney supports) reduces food stamp funding.
