Romney dyes his face for Univision performance

Imagine if Obama wore a turban speaking on Al Jazeera.

Laugh all you want. This was a smart move. He definitely has the John Boehner demographic locked up now.

Also, I can't wait to see how much Fox News lightens the image and MSNBC darkens it.

There's a lot of much better reasons not to vote for Romney such as: He's going to crash the economy.

...this is a non issue.

It's a reflection of his character, everything matters.

Why doesn't he just start telling latino voters he is an anchor baby from a pair of mexicans? I am sure they could teach him some mexican phrases and he can ask everyone where the library is. He could drink a corona and eat a taco. how desperate can you get?

At least when boner and trump were self tanning they could say it was because they wanted to look like gold. It is not like they did it just to go on hispanic TV. They just had a legitimate bad style moment. This is not bad style, this is pandering at levels never before seen by Romney. I know he thought he would get to be president if he was mexican, but I did not think he was going to play pretend mexican. Why didn't they go the full distance and give him a sombrero and one of eastwood's ponchos? He could have had a chihuahua with him, and gotten out of a car that was hopping 4 or 5 feet off the ground to some Ricky martin.

I did not think the man could pander any lower or be this pathetic. What ever happened to the dignity of the rich white man?

It's not a reflection of his character. At worst, if this is even true, it's a reflection on his handlers. It's a hoot but it really is a non issue.

Would you vote for a chameleon or an octopus?

It's a republican thing.

Why not say, "Who the hell cares??!!"

Does it occur to anyone that any time someone appears on a television show, professionals do their make-up?? Jesus H. Christ.

It was smart. People are talking about this instead of his policy to make America suck for Latinos so much that they deport themselves.

It's political theater.

Obama seems to adopt a thicker "urban accent" depending on where he's campaigning. Hell...I wouldn't doubt he sounds downright "hayseed" in heavy agriculture states.

Haha. So does Joe Biden. It's funny to hear an old white guy speaking like an inner city african american.

And yes, it's political theater. I find Romney's fake tan just as comical as Biden's urban accent.

Nonissue is nonissue. Nonissue is pretty funny... but still not an actual issue.

Let's talk about the reasons why many Latinos don't like Mitt Romney. Let's start with how his party adopts racist platforms that discriminate against Latinos and support laws in Arizona that strip them of their fourth amendment rights. Let's talk about how many lower class Latinos are sick and tired of trickle down economics gearing the whole economy towards creating more wealth for the already wealthy. Let's talk about all the middle class Latinos who don't like how Republicans filibustered a bill that would have imposed a penalty on companies that ship jobs overseas. Let's talk about how Romney's few stated goals will do nothing to help the unemployed workers of this country. Let's talk about how few stated goals Romney has, and how we're otherwise just left with an implication that he will simply continue the Bush economic model that got us into this recession in the first place.

I highly doubt it was intentional. No campaign advisor in this day and age could possibly think it would be a good idea to tan a candidate's face in an effort to appeal to latino voters.

And yet there he is, our brownish, bronzish Romney lookin' like Ray Charles did his makeup.

Don't be so sure. Someone thought Sarah Palin would appeal to women voters.

That's apparent... from your line of attacks against Romney... and the multitude of diversionary topics from the current status of the economy and the president's fiscal record... in fact, his entire record as president over the last 3.5 years... Which has changed from "Yes We Can", "Hope", and "Change", to "Well, We Haven't Yet" and "We Hope It Changes"...

Now... if you had said Mitt Romney came out like a Mexican Wrestler, you might have had something... but this is a non-story...

None of this changes the facts, that;

- the national debt has risen to $16T (nearly 105% of our GDP, only the second time it's ever been over 100%, and the only time without a declared war), $5.4T so far under this president... who has been running a persistent $1.2T debt, spending 60% over budget, resulting in the only credit rating downgrade in US history...

- Unemployment has been over 8% for 43 months, since Obama said it wouldn't go over 8% if we gave him $800B for ARRA, and 23M Americans are unemployed/underemployed... with 40% of those filing for unemployment having been unemployed for more than 26 weeks, while the workforce participation rate has taken a steep unprecident 2.5% dive under this president...

- Fuel prices are through the roof, with national average of gasoline prices at $3.84/gal, and it expected to be the most expensive winter to heat your home ever, with the average home expected to pay about $1800 just for winter heating prices...

I don't care what color the president is... I just want one that's gonna get the job done...

Yeah, but Palin at least is definitely a woman. Everybody is aware that Romney is not latino.

This is more akin to thinking that dressing Chris Christie in a dress would appeal to women.
