Are the problems in the Middle East effecting Obama's poll numbers?

This is my first post. Be gentle. I have been keeping track of the national poll average over the last month. After the RNC Obama and Romney were at a dead heat: Obama 46.4% v Romney 46.3%, then after the DNC Obama leapt out to a 3.7% lead: Obama 48.7% v Romney 45% - I use Who Will Be President? - Independent Presidential Election 2012 poll because they take an average of a bunch of polls. Since the events in the Middle East Obama is back down to 2.1%. Do you think this is because of the crisis overseas or just the numbers leveling out with the conventions way behind us.

On a related note, I can't wait to see what the debates do to the poll numbers. Election 2012 is making me a stats junky.
