Romney's Disgusting Attack On Obama Shortly After A US Ambassador Was Killed. [W:24]

"Before news spread that four Americans had been killed in Benghazi, Romney yesterday issued a statement saying in part: "It's disgraceful that the Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."

This is an attack that does not stand up to simple chronology.

Asked what Romney was referring to, his campaign Tuesday pointed to a statement from the US Embassy in Cairo issued a statement "condemn(ing) the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims" - referring to the anti-Muslim movie allegedly inflaming the demonstrators, rioters, and attackers - but that statement was issued before the attacks on the diplomatic missions."​

I thought I read that Romney retracted the statement. Of course, the damage was already done, his loyal dupes already think this is what happened. It's just another "you didn't build that" deception. Tell a lie first, tell it fast, tell it often, and the truth doesn't matter anymore because these people already have had their opinions formed for them. Even when the truth comes out that the Egyptian embassy released that statement before the attacks, they just don't register it. The opinion is already formed, the facts don't matter. They'll twist around whatever they need to twist around in their head to ignore the facts.
 
I think it's a bit hyperbolic to call it a "disgusting" attack.

A friend of mine died, an American civil servant and Air Force veteran. And before Romney knew what had even happened, Candidate Romney was using his death to score election points in an inaccurate and unfounded attack. Yes, it's ****ing disgusting. He's outright lying to you. Why aren't you disgusted?

The apology was baking in the sun for 9 hours before Romney had to step up and be the adult in the room. Our Embassy had been stormed. Our flag had been ripped down. Burned to ashes and a black Jihad flag was waving in it's place over Sovereign American soil. As dishonest people like you are spinning like tops, the message is clear to Al Qaeda. Obama is weak. The United States is weak.

Romney didn't act fast enough IMO. Obama and Axlerod had already gone political by 7AM that morning on twitter I believe AFTER the apology from the Embassy was made. How damning is that?

Personally, I do find any kind of apology or sympathy with the killers as disgusting.

What I mean to say is that any apology for the video or sympathy with the plight of the murderers is disgusting and any leader that does such is unfit to lead.

You are correct sir,the left is desperately trying to save Obama's skin on what has CLEARLY been a botched response from his administration from the get go.Romney rightly shows outrage over the fiasco and he gets attacked over the inept foreign policy of Obama.

There was neither an apology nor sympathy from the Obama administration as the unpresidential Romney indicated.

So you honor him by supporting the consistent demonstration of appeasement towards those that killed him that this Administration has demonstrated since? Yeah, that disgusts me much more than political jockeying as the latter doesn't really mean anything.

Not only did the embassy apologize. They stood by the statement for more than 10 hours without a response from the WH and tried to delete tweets later to cover their tracks.

You want to yell and scream and stomp your feet and hyperbolize Romney's statements and yet Obama utilized similar tactics in 2008 while he was campaigning for the candidacy/presidency by politicizing the deaths of soldiers to make a politically advantageous move. So really, it's SSDD.

The truth of the matter is, it was completely inappropriate for the embassy in Egypt to make the statement it made, regardless of when they made it. Even the WH, Hillary Clinton, and others agreed with that conclusion. People are feigning outrage over this and making themselves no better than the people they love to hate in the process.

Absolutely right. Romney was simply criticizing the same statement put out by the embassy that everyone else who read it was criticizing. The phony outrage in the press and by leftist sympathizers of Obama is simply a ploy to cover up and distract attention form the total collapse of obamas foreign policy.

The statement put out by the embassy was done prior to the killing of the diplomats, yet this is what Romney said:
