Iam a black 82 year old democrat and have been for 61 years.I will be voting for Mitt this election. This is a good man and he stands for the things I believe in.He is a Mormon And I'm a Baptist but we both believe in God.I believe he will do everything in his power to get us back on the right track.who ever heard of "same sex " marring ?You know it"s wrong and it will bring so many problems down the road. For our children to think it"s OK to kiss his boy playmate and have two fathers instead of a mother is nuts.If Obama gets reelected you will get what you deserve. You have a bunch of people on state assistance voting for things good people are trying to live by.How can someone with no job tell people who have worked all their lives how to live? Give me a brake and God help you.

SSM is an inevitability, you can either deal with it or not, but it's going to be law in this country very soon.

Nothing is inevitable except death and taxes. I see that the legislators who crossed the voters over SSM in New York have fared badly thus far this primary season.

Yes it is an inevitability, just like equal rights for black people was an inevitability.

:) that belief is the strongest tool your side has. I would tend to say the same thing of education and entitlement reform.

SSM? Is that Staff Sergeant Major. Yeah got to agree with you, having two fathers instead of a mother is nutty.

Hey, that's something my old English teacher said all the time! :D Hehe, I know a country where that doesn't apply.... (Hint: Not the U.S.)

The GOP is quickly becoming the Party of the perpetual underclass. You'll fit right in, OP.

Couldn't resist playing the race card?

The race card? Oh, the horrah, the horrah!

Race doesn't matter. Class does. We're clearly meant to be impressed by Morgan Freeman's wizened, hoary intelligence and life-story. We're supposed to think his folksy moral sentiments offer us some insight into the ethical underpinnings of the universe.

I'll be glad when ssm is made legal so Your Star can start voting Republican across the board.

just like equal rights for black people was an inevitability.

While it was correct, and while it did happen, it was never "inevitable."

Funny how SSM is voted down in every state where the voters are allowed to vote on it, even the liberal republic of california voted it down.

Most people just think that marriage is a union of one man and one woman.

If gays want to sign a civil union agreement, or a contract to cohabitate, fine, but its not a marriage.

This is a state's rights issue.

The underclass is expanding and perpetuating better than ever under the programs of the Big 0.

Go figure.

What are your thoughts on Polygamy, Group Marriage, Sibling Marriage, and Self Marriage

there are more people who think as you do than the media wants to admit. WE will replace obama with Romney and get the country back on the right path.

Pretty sure you once argued that the end of slavery was inevitable when the the 3/5ths cause was signed and approved by the founders...

I agree with YS. The younger generation is more open about SSM, so it looks like we are headed towards marriage equality as they become older. I can't imagine how hard it will be for somebody like you live with seeing sodomite, peter-puffers signing marriage licenses and planning honeymoons like straight people, but it will probably be hard on you for sure. My parents have the attitude that it won't affect them, so they are not fighting it with all their might nor are they fighting for it. It's just a non issue to them, and they are older than you.

Mentioning race is playing the race card? Cause it looks like you're mentioning race, so now you're playing the race card, right?... Oh, look, now we are talking about race because of you.

Accusing somebody of playing the race card is always race baiting. That's how I see it, and always will. Mentioning race and differences in people isn't taboo. There are different races... people need to get over others mentioning race, gender, etc.

:) inevitable? no, that quote is from a founding father, and an abolitionist at that; but they thought it would happen.

 perhaps. But people have been claiming a rising liberal dominance due to younger voters since the days of McGovern; and what we have found out is that people tend to become more conservative as they age, marry, and have children. Simply breaking down married v unmarried voters reveals the power of the shift of this move:

why in the world would it be hard on me if we alter the official definition of marriage? I could see maybe down the road a slight aggregate decrease in growth, but SSM is not nearly as damaging as no-fault divorce was, or as the rise of the single-parent household has been.

My parents have the attitude that it won't affect them, so they are not fighting it with all their might nor are they fighting for it. It's just a non issue to them, and they are older than you.

 it's mostly a non-issue for me. My only problem is when SSM advocates try to overturn representative government by using friendly members of the judiciary to enforce their will on the people. That's when I get upset. When SSM passes (as it did in New York) out of the Legislature, as measures like that are supposed to, then I mostly shrug my shoulders.

Huh. Interesting. If we were to go back and search the threads about Chris Matthews at the RNC convention, or Bill Clinton in the 2008 campaign, is this what we would find?

That isn't the race card. The race card is using race to try to deflect an argument. YS isn't doing that here. She's making an historical analogy.
