Did anyone else see Jennifer Granholm's speech at the DNC? Regardless of your political views, it's absolutely hilarious. If you don't want to watch the whole video, it starts getting funny around 1:50. It gets really good at about 3:45. She and Howard Dean should get together and do motivational speeches together.

Somebody is motivated. I especially like the end "AMERICAN NEEDS TO DRIVE!!! D is for DRIVE FORWARD, R IS FOR REVERSE..>" I seriously thought she was going to spell the whole word.

I can't watch her. She ruined that state as much as anybody else she wants to point fingers at.

I always thought Dean and..well, this speech, would be excellent in the WWE. What's also cool was that Ric Flair was at the DNC area. She should have brought his butt up there to do a "woOOOOOO!"

at one point I started twitching and felt scared...

I assumed that was the reaction she was trying to illicit..

I guess I only have two things to say about her speech:

1. She certainly got the crowd up. From the bored looks on their faces during Obama's speech, he probably should have followed her example.

2. Is it a guy thing? Why does the sound of women screeching hurt my ears?

Thank you for posting that. I had actually missed it and have been intending to look it up. I love that woman. I often watch the War Room. She is great.

I thought we're supposed to drive less to combat Global Warming?

Do you not know there are more than one meaning to the word "drive?" Or are you being coy.

The latter I guess, would have used a different word though!

While ... females cannot pull off a louder voice pitch her words are right on target. In reality her syntax and voice is quite nice yet not on a microphone for a rousing speech.

She has more financial sense for a governor. While most governors brag how they "steal" or recruit companies from other states to help their state she has far more economic sense. She gave a very good economical platform discussion that governors do not need to compete and divide and conquer our country by "competing" with other states. She has a unified economic plan that supports the United States of America.

I agree ... women cannot raise their voices in the same powerful strength that male gender can in a speech and pull it off. (Sorry ladies that is just a fact ...our voices become high pitched).

However she is exactly right on in her words and she has far better economic ability and sense then the divide and conquer governors that forget we are the United States of America.

Jennifer Granholm is right on target!

I was waiting on her to say one of the following lines:

"Let me tell you something Mean Gene...."
"The Dem says bring your rudy poo candy a** out and vote for Barack Obama!"
Or the crowd to yell "what" after every sentence.

I thought she sounded kind of like Macho Man Randy Savage.

Here in Michigan, people are stunned and in a nearly awestruck like state. Pols here want to know what happened to the real Jennifer Granholm and who was that pretending to be here in Charlotte?

The Granholm who was Governor here for eight years was a mousey and timid person who allowed Republicans in the State Senate to treat her like a dishrag and all she asked for from time to time was to be allowed to dry in the sun before use again. She allowed a closet Republican in the Halloween costume of a Democrat to run the State House and he pretty much happily bent over the table for the GOP. She provided precious little leadership and the idea of leading the fight as a screaming Xena warrior - well, that simply never happened even in her fantasies.

Her speech in Charlotte was terrific. It was perfect. She read the crowd perfectly and rode their enthusiasm and acceptance of her like a champion surfer on a forty foot wave. She was truly amazing.

This is just the kind of fighting spirit the Democratic Party needs to counter the milktoast style of President Obama.

I thought it was a lot over the top, funny, good for stirring up the room at the DNC but of no real consequence IMHO.

The analogies about D for Drive and R for Reverse were funny and a good sound bite but the rest was not all that impressive.

Also, she did not tell the whole truth when she said: "Let Detroit go bankrupt."

Mitt did not use those words, he was against the bail out, that thing is absolutely true but he was willing to them go into a managed banktrupcy.

Now Grantholm might think that is the same as letting the whole thing to belly up but it is not exactly the same.

She knows the difference, she also knows which tactics and words score political points.

Well of course she wasn't telling the whole truth. What politician does. I wasn't really trying to comment on the message of her speech one way or the other, I just got a kick out of the delivery.
