Is Romney more loyal to his money that the American people?

Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign toasted its top donors Wednesday aboard a 150-foot yacht flying the flag of the Cayman Islands.

The floating party... was one of a dozen exclusive events meant to nurture those who have raised more than $1 million for Romney's bid.

"I think it's ironic they do this aboard a yacht that doesn't even pay its taxes," said a woman who lives aboard a much smaller boat moored at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.

First of all, that yacht does not belong to Romney. It was owned by the guy throwing him a fundraiser. Second, that flag is Burmuda, not Cayman Islands. Flagging larger vessels in other countries is not uncommon.

It's not uncommon because it subjects the craft to the home countries laws. Even Cunard (Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria) ships are moving to fly another flag besides England's because of the labor laws.

Yeah, thats part of the reason. There are some others as well. Here's an interesting read why many of the megayachts are flagged in foreign countries.

Maybe Romney would be great as President of the Cracker Bay yaht, since he has so much in common with his constituents there. But as President of the United States?
NO!!!

You're right, that looks very much like the Bermuda flag though. The Cayman Civil Ensign is pretty similar.

Doesn't negate the fact that its not his yacht. Read the article I posted on why so few are registered US, give some insight on the reason.
