The conservative Susan B. Anthony List is poised to embark on a TV ad campaign challenging Barack Obama’s record on abortion, an official with the group tells POLITICO.

The initial ad is a $150,000 buy in Missouri, and shows a woman – Melissa Ohden – speaking to the camera about having been born alive in spite of an abortion procedure.

Abortion opponents have long decried Obama’s record in the Illinois legislature on regulating late-term abortions, but little money has been spent to advertise on the issue since he became president.

“Many children, more than you might think, actually survive failed abortions and are born alive. I know because I’m one of them,” Ohden says in the SBA List ad. “When he was in the Illinois state Senate, Barack Obama voted to deny basic constitutional protections for babies born alive from an abortion – not once, but four times."

She concludes: “I know it’s by the grace of God I’m alive today, if only to ask America this question: is this the kind of leadership that will move us forward, that will discard the weakest among us? How will you answer?”

The SBA List describes the commercial as part of a campaign aimed at “Obama’s extremist record on abortion.” In a statement, SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser branded the president as outside the social mainstream.

His views, she said, “fly in the face of mainstream American views and run counter to the President’s first term pre-election talk of finding common ground. Recent polling reveals the majority of Americans support bans on these horrific practices.”

obama brought this on himself, stepped right in it, once again attacking others---here, for being abortion extremist---for that which he himself is far more culpable for

partial birth too, he's gonna get hammered for it in the next few weeks

really who is and are the abortion extremists?

he and his, both in the party and the media, jumped on the akin idiocy so kneejerk and so hard---why, they have committed the entire focus of their convention to these women's issues, as well as additional divisive appeals to one group of americans ahead of and against another

ms fluke and naral and planned parenthood and mccaskill, tammy baldwin (lesbian candidate for wisconsin senate up against tommy thompson) and caroline kennedy and lily ledbetter---what do you think they're gonna say, how will they say it, how will it look to americans all twisted up with anxious despair over this economy

abortion palooza, here it comes---the 2012 democratic natl convention in charlotte

it's gonna be wild

they're beginning with a 2 hour muslim prayer after having excluded the catholic cardinals

no children allowed, and gloria steinem is throwing a fit over the failure of the party to provide child care for delegates

folks like me are gonna absolutely love it

worry

70 days...

Good for them.

Give them a biscuit.

Not gonna convince anyone of anything that didn't already agree with the ads in the first place.

LOL!

Obama is an abortion extremist?

so republican leaning people in Missouri, a state that has republican for the past three elections are so scared of their changes of winning the election (which they are loosing in the electoral college by a country mile right now) that they need to run attack adds in Missouri? Wow, they must be even more afraid of loosing this election than I had figured they were.

Running Political adds during

the election?

I am shocked!

Alan Keyes tried this tactic in 2004. Obama got 70% of the vote.

Explaining the committee vote in context actually might win some support, but screaming 'infanticide' won't.
