Mr. Paul, in an interview, said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney. He declined.“It wouldn’t be my speech,” Mr. Paul said. “That would undo everything I’ve done in the last 30 years. I don’t fully endorse him for president.”

Sad. I really wanted to hear a Paul speech at the convention.

Here is the man I will be voting for.

Like him or hate him, Ron Paul is a man of conscience and principle. Salute...

Paul didn't sell out. The system will not permit worthy men or women to be considered equally.

Gary Johnson is most certainly getting my vote. He would be great for the nation.

I'm voting Johnson also. I was sort of astounded to find a politician I agree with on almost everything.

Too bad he's being outshone by a man who won't even be on the ballot.

I've always liked this man and wish he were the GOP candidate. Gary Johnson gets my vote this year.

From another board just FYI
C-SPAN to cover Ron Paul’s We Are the Future Rally | iroots.org

Ron Paul will speak to a live national audience via coverage from C-SPAN on Sunday, Aug 26th at 3pm ET from the University of South Florida’s 17,000 seat Sun Dome. The event is themed as a constitutional conservative and libertarian friendly alternative to the official GOP convention. Ron Paul, himself, is calling it “the speech the RNC doesn’t want the rest of America to hear.”

"In a world of cowards, stick to your principles. In a sea of lies, tell the truth. Into the darkness, shine a light. Do those things and be that person. Be courageous, studious, and persistent. Remember that the one person on this earth you have full power to improve is yourself. Learn and teach whenever and wherever you can. Be your own army of one, and then you will be carrying on the Ron Paul legacy."

Tom Woods.

Tom Woods lays out why I have so much admiration for him. Hoping for a movie one day :D

Kinda like Karl Marx in that respect. Except with crazier ideas than Marx.

Thank goodness you made it to the party - I thought a thread remotely pertaining to Ron Paul might have finally escaped Redress' obligatory commentary on his insanity and irrelevance!

Seriously, what's with you and Ron Paul? Did he sleep with your fiancee years ago or something?

Unfortunate as this is, Romney couldn't take a chance that Paul wouldn't undercut him during his speech. Romney is not the best candidate, but that's who we're stuck with; just as the Dems are with Obama.

Sent from my blasted phone.

I did not call him insane nor irrelevant. Thank you for playing though.

You just may be the most pedantic person I have ever met. Yes, because there is a world of difference between being fanatically driven by "crazy ideas" and being crazy.

Vote for Paul. He may be insane, but he will be ineffective too so it's ok.

"Real" was perhaps a poor choice of words but nobody should take Trump seriously.

Kinda like Ron Paul.

Paul is the only choice...if you hate America,
Paul is the only choice...if you want to repeal the 20th and 19th century.
Paul is the only choice...except for all the other choices.

So Paul proposes to take 7 % out of the economy in his first year. So we are back to recession. He is also going to fire 200k people from federal jobs. He is ****ing insane.

And on and on. You know how plenty of gay bashers are closeted folks themselves?

...does all this obsessive bashing mean that Redress secretly has a hard-on for Ron Paul? I can't be the first to have contemplated this question.

Oh, you mean ever. Yes, I have on occasion referred to Paul as insane. But in this discussion(you know, where we are talking now), no. SO do you care to discuss what I said here, or are you going to just continue to hold a grudge?

What grudge? I thought this was about your grudge, remember? ;)

Remember the part where he had crazier ideas than Marx's? Yeah, that part. And if you're going to say that saying someone has crazy ideas isn't calling them crazy when the speaker in question has an extensive history of calling the subject crazy...yeah, I'ma call bs.

Pfft, occasional? Hardly. The behavior has died down recently, I admit, but a few months ago, if a 2012 Election thread had Ron Paul in the title, you were ON dat **** faster than any Paul fanboy here, man!

Isolationism, the gold standard and eliminating the fed, all in the 21st century, are crazier ideas than Marx ever espoused.
