GOP delays convention due to Hurricane Isaac

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- After watching Tropical Storm Isaac creep toward Florida for days, Republican National Convention officials decided late Saturday that it was too Risky to start the event on Monday as planned.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said convention officials will only convene briefly on Monday and adjourn for the rest of the day....

It happened to McCain in 2008 as well.
3 days instead of 4 because of a Hurricane despite the fact it was in... Minnesota.
Geez.

2008 Republican National Convention - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United States 2008 Republican National Convention took place at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, from September 1, through September 4, 2008.[1] The first day of the Republican Party's convention fell on Labor Day, the last day of the popular Minnesota State Fair, though because of Hurricane Gustav, this day was mostly a call for action to help victims and formal, required activities; most of the politicking and partying did not start until Tuesday, the second scheduled day...
As someone previously said in the section.. what would Pat Robertson have to say about this 'Divine' outcome. Now 2 in a row.

If I were a crazy religious type i might say that god is clearly punishing the republican party. But since I am not a crazy religious type I know that it is just a fact of life that florida gets hit by hurricanes during the hurricane season. I will never get a job on the 700 club with that sort of rational thinking and logical attitude.

Oh hell, ROMNEY MADE A PACT WITH THE DEVIL IN HIS SATANIC CULT OF MORMONISM AND NOW FLORIDA HAS TO PAY THE PRICE!

Oddly that burst of complete insanity was quite enjoyable. maybe I should be bat**** insane more often?

They don't need to delay the convention. They just need to move it. They can just drive up Highway 75 to Atlanta, they take 85 to this little quaint city called Charlotte.

Seems like the safe thing to do.

Well since the National Hurricane Center "is Obama," this means the GOP is kowtowing to Obama!

I think the hurricane should hit NO. Think of the endless possibilities for speculated news stories that would bring.

It would be a terrible shame but it indeed may hit NO or get dangerously close to it.

Whatever keeps it safe.

Even worse, most models have the hurricane heading straight for New Orleans. Or should I say Lake Ponchartrain's east side, which is the worst-case scenario.

Thats what I was thinking. I mean, God destroyed New Orleans over Gay Pride parades. Makes me wonder what the GOP did that is worse than that...lol

They can add a day at the end to make up for lost time. Why are the DNC and RNC holding conventions during hurricane season in regions where this is likely. I would be more impressed if either party held their convention in a city that needed an economic surge.

I never pay much attention to either convention.

This makes me laugh a little bit. A storm over the Republican National Convention.

I love the simpsons.

All things considered it was prudent to postpone it a day or so to be sure...the tampa area is not fun to try to evacuate out of without a few hundred thousand more visitors that dont have a clue how the hell to get out if they needed to running around....better safe than sorry
