Romney plays the ugly Birther card!

Just not smart to let yourself be associated with that idiocy.

He opened the door with a little improvised comment, but the dopey face of Trump with his stupid puckered lips is now being flashed everywhere.

So it would be Romney's fault that people are idiots?

Romney aide Kevin Madden sent an email to reporters saying the candidate was "only referencing that Michigan, where he is campaigning today, is the state where he himself was born and raised."

See....it wasn't even a joke......he was just referencing his birthplace.....nothing else......well, and that nobody asked for his BC.....cause they all knew him there......it wasn't a joke.....I'm telling you......even last year when his son made the BC reference when answering the tax return comments....we were not wading into the whole BC thingy....really.

I did support my position. Nothing he said in any way supported the birther position, it did not pander to birthers, it was not an appeal to birthers. He simply made an (admittedly lame) joke. Do you think he should pretend birthers don't exist? When would it, in your mind, be ok to bring up birthers?
See, you just undercut your own argument, you recognize that the joke IS referencing birtherism....so it is a birther joke, not "a" joke.

What you want to do is to pretend that this is not a birther joke, but "a" joke, like that Michigan has tree of the correct height...or what not.

Meaning you? Because most practical, sane people in this thread recognize it for what it is: a jab at birther frenzy and thus a jab against birthers.

As to your question: How should I know? I'm unaware of the joke and it's context.
You are off message, you didn't get the email......it wasn't a joke, just a reference to growing up in Michigan.

You need to wait for the campaign before opening your mouth.

I never said it was not a joke about birthers....

I don't see a problem with making jokes about birthers because birthers are a joke.

I just can't believe this thread is even still alive. How many times can you explain that a joke about something is not an endorsement of an entire movement?

I know people are oh so proud that he didn't use a teleprompter, but maybe he should.

Just a part of it...a little bit....

No, it is a mistake to pander to birtherism.

I just opened this thread, and found you have an obsession with birthers, and jokes about birthers. Give it up, nobody cares about all this birther stuff.

See, this is again the problem. Birthers (sic) and telepromptergate (sic) are two different psychosis.

Is a joke for the birther crowd a display of a psychosis?

There is a real English error that people keep making, I never said this a joke ABOUT birthers, that is tess's (and apparently Redress's) position.

I have consistently said this is a joke FOR the birther crowd, red meat, the dog whistle, for that conspiracy and believers.

Please get that straight.

Thats right so why is the GOP candidate for the office of the President stooping to the level of the lunatic fringe?? So stupid, so desperate !

"There's really no way to make the conspiracy about President Obama's birth certificate completely go away, so we might as well laugh at it -- and make sure as many people as possible are in on the joke." -- www.barackobama.com

How dare he makes jokes about this! Oh the shame!!!!

lol

He did not give them ammo, he made a joke.

How was it a joke? It's not funny. Sounds more like he's pandering to the birthers than joking. Even if he was joking, it would be stupid and inappropriate -- as it would be if Obama was riffing off of Mitt being a Mormon.

Romney's comment from the OP wasn't a joke. It was a dig at the President questioning the origins of his birth - drudging up the birther issue again. Romney needs to give this crap a rest and just stick to the real issues.
