Romney plays the ugly Birther card!

Thank you for link that worked.

I think it is meaningful that Romney talked about Romney's birth certificate. Seems that there are several states that require a candidate for POTUS to prove that they are a natural born citizen. I guess Romney can do that. The other guy NEVER did that. Hmmm ...
Now see, this is a full tilt birther belief.

Brither ... hmmm ... Hundreds of years ago the term 'Christian' was supposed to be a derogatory term.

A L
Wow...where to go with that one!

Equating irrational beliefs.....trying to turn the concept of birtherism into a respectable position.....?!?

I think he was making fun of the birthers, not joining their ranks. Some people are just too damned sensitive. Cling to those weak attack lines for your life!

Romney didn't say he agreed with birthers, he joked about being asked for a birth certificate. He didn't support the birther movement. He made a bad joke. There is a pretty big difference.
Um, no...it wasn't just "a joke", it was a specific reference to the basis of birtherism.

If you can't accept that basic idea, you are in serious denial.

Serious question: Do you know what a joke is?

Oh...it was a smack against the birthers.....sure.

Thats a good one, he was teasing the fringe he needs.

OK!

Please show me how you make a joke about something without referring to it.

OK!

The fringe is going to vote for the republican candidate come election day. He "needs" the independents.

So have you heard the one about __________? Yeah, apparently _________ walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says, "_______________".

Without? You just made my point, he was referencing birtherism.

"No one ever needed to ask for my birth certificate, they all know where I was born....wink wink"

That's interesting, I have been reading about how his teabag/birther following is weak.....your mileage may vary.

Raising that issue again does not make any sense at all. The president has already proved he was born in this country. There is no need to question that again.

What point are you trying to make? I'm seriously confused at this point.

Is Romney not allowed to mock one of the (sadly) biggest moments of idiocy we've seen from anti-obamaites?

Again, come election day the fringe is going to vote overwhelmingly for Romney.

Why? Because the fringe hates Obama more than they could ever hate Romney, and the fringe will live in fear of Obama staying in office.

You sure are reaching on this one. By your logic, anyone who ever jokes about something is supporting it.

It was a ****ing joke.....

Nothing to see here...

Pretty much this. With all the cheap shots, dirty tactics, lies, deception and everything else going on during this election (not that the last few haven't too) it should be no surprise that Romney made the comment. Anything for some applause and a few votes.

Honestly I don't think it is going to matter in the long run. Those who dont believe Obama was born here are not going to vote for him. Those who are offended at birther jokes are voting Obama. The rest of us don't care.

I'm seeing that very clearly.

Is Romney not allowed to mock one of the (sadly) biggest moments of idiocy we've seen from anti-obamaites?
You are begging the question without supporting the premise. Since all so far appear to see it as a birther reference and not a joke against or on birthers, I think you are going to have to show how you got to where you are.

I suppose when son #1 made a birther joke back in Dec, that too was against birthers?

Not "a" joke, a birther joke.

I think it is so weird how you are willing to defend Romney on this, I see you getting annoyed with birther comments from posters, but when it comes from the GOP candidate....suddenly it is just "a joke".

His comments where just a joke. He was not promoting nor pandering to birthers.

If it walks like a duck....and talks like a duck..

I always know when you are stuck, because you can't support your position.

It was red meat hon, just a treat, but red meat none the less.

Meaning you? Because most practical, sane people in this thread recognize it for what it is: a jab at birther frenzy and thus a jab against birthers.

As to your question: How should I know? I'm unaware of the joke and it's context.

I did support my position. Nothing he said in any way supported the birther position, it did not pander to birthers, it was not an appeal to birthers. He simply made an (admittedly lame) joke. Do you think he should pretend birthers don't exist? When would it, in your mind, be ok to bring up birthers?

Just not smart to let yourself be associated with that idiocy.

He opened the door with a little improvised comment, but the dopey face of Trump with his stupid puckered lips is now being flashed everywhere.
