Just saw this and thought it was a couple interesting quotes. Not much room for partisanship in this, though I am sure some will try. Obama: Not my job to convince folks I

First, from Obama:

So "how do you respond" to those who "have questioned the sincerity of your faith and your Christianity?" the magazine asked.
"You know, there's not much I can do about it," Obama said.
"I have a job to do as president, and that does not involve convincing folks that my faith in Jesus
is legitimate and real. I do my best to live out my faith, and to stay in the Word, and to make my life look more like His. I'm not perfect. What I can do is just keep on following Him, and serve others—trying to make folks' lives a little better using this humbling position that I hold."

And from Romney:

"I am often asked about my faith and my beliefs about Jesus Christ," Romney said.
"I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. Every religion has its own unique doctrines and history. These should not be bases for criticism but rather a test of our tolerance. Religious tolerance would be a shallow principle indeed if it were reserved only for faiths with which we agree."

And from Romney:

The GOP should come after Hussein Obama on the Rev Wright thing............He should not get a pass on that........I think any true American would get the hell out of that so called church at the first sign of Wright's hate filled sermons instead he sat there for 20 years and ate them up........

As soon as you use the term "true American" you have lost the game.

You are sooooooo right NP...that is EXACTLY what the wacko right should do. That would play well especially since Romney has belonged to a church for decades that believes that Blacks were punished by God and their skin turned dark because they sided with Lucifer before the creation of the world...that magic underwear protects them from harm.....that God lives on a planet called Kolob and if we are "worthy" we can engage in sex for eternity creating our own "spirit children" and inhabiting our own planets. Oh....and baptizing dead people so that they can become Mormon in the afterlife. Do we really want a President that is THAT guillible?

Glad to see both sides are ignoring the words of their leaders.

They tried that already. Do you remember how that worked out?

Dood...Reverend Wright's ministry is more than a few 20 second sound bites. I dont agree with everything he said but also dont discount his life of service. He isnt trying to sign people up for Jihad. Even with his most fiery rhetoric he is trying to inspire Americans to change. You dont have to agree with him, but it might help to try to understand him.

I would prefer a candidate whose religion I didn't know, and couldn't determine based on his or her policies.

Ironic innit that neither candidate is the one MAKING religion and faith an issue.

I see nothing wrong or glaring in either quote. Does something seem out of place to you?

It just annoys me that people put their religion on their sleeve like it's some kind of medal, yet they don't really follow it. Yes, I know noone is perfect and they "try" to follow the teachings of Christ and make mistakes on the way. However, I've seen atheists act more "Christ-like" than most politicians.

No, I saw nothing wrong, I just thought it was interesting actually. Not everything has to be a scandal.

How would you apply that to either Romney or Obama?

They control their campaigns don't they? Both are lying about the other, hardly Christ like.

Both are politicians. And just like pretty much...oh...I dont know EVERY POSTER HERE including yourself, both 'see' things their way, which is easily construed by others as a 'lie'. Hey...if you are looking for Christ to run for office you are going to have a bit of a wait. In the meantime...we have mere mortals...like it or not.

And in the meantime I will criticize both for claiming to follow Christ will blatently lying about the other. Hey, if you don't mind that's good for you.

Good thing you read the book on that whole 'judgement' thing... :lamo

So maybe the portion of the electorate that is making it an issue should stop.
Not for nothing...but...who IS? Im not seeing it be a really big deal from ANYONE.

See, the thing is I'm not Christian so I don't claim to follow Christ like Romney and Obama. So the laugh is on you.

And from Romney:

I don't think for a minute that Obama is Muslim. And I don't think too much about the faith they have. That's a personal decision and none of my business. I do have second (and third) thoughts about Obama's home church and Rev. Wright. He's certainly not the conventional Minister in Christ.
