There's been speculation Joe Biden will be replaced at Obama's running mate.

Its been further reported Secretary Clinton has already been asked and turn the offer down. If he's replaced, any ideas as to who will be a good Democrat VP nominee?

Odds are very very slim this would happen. It would be a pure negative, no upside whatsoever.

I really, really, really doubt Biden will be replaced as the VP candidate.

But if he were, in the absence of Hillary, I would think the best candidate for the Democrats electorally speaking would be someone like Mark Warner or John Hickenlooper.

I think it would play out badly for Obama. Better to keep him on the ticket.

I agree with this. If they did replace Biden, I don't think there would be any candidate to pick who would actually overcome the negatives of taking Biden off the ticket. Best case for the Democrats would be minimized damage.

Oh Gosh. Poor Sarah gets it from all directions. Democrats, The Whitehouse and even Republicans. If I were her I'd lead the Tea Party into America's third party and be the ultimate legacy builder. If anybody can do it, it would be her. Its apparent the GOP establishment has no use for her other than helping them raise money. They aren't even letting her speak at the convention.

Her biggest problem IMO with respect to getting a third party going is she's left nothing dissatisfied democrats can latch onto and it would help if she could build a coalition of both Republicans and dissatisfied Democrats. The closest she comes at winning over some Democrats would be strong career oriented women.

A party started by Palin wouldn't really have a chance of becoming a significant third party. There aren't enough people supporting with here huge favorablitiy deficits. And some of her current supporters would likely fall off if she did something like that, which would make it harder for conservatives to compete with Democrats. Her candidate Joe Miller couldn't even win against a regular Republican Lisa Murkowski candidate two years ago in Alaska even when her name wasn't on the ballot.

Just because at any point something could happen to Obama, Biden should be replaced. If the thought of that moron as President doesn't turn your blood to ice, you are a total nut job.

It's weird that GOPs would even talk about this -- but Hilary as VP would clinch the election and hold the white house for the next 12 years.

Me thinks that after about 2014, we'll see her around the home front along. She let toss her hat in late, and devastate the others in 2016.

the negatives of dropping Biden far outweigh any potential benefit. therefore, it won't happen.

This will never happen and why should it? This whole thing has just been another political game. The president supports Joe and this is a non issue.

The strongest ticket is Obama & Hilary. Other than that - keep Biden.

Having Hilary as VP with leading policy role in administration and Bill Clinton in a very high publicity leadership of the administration's economic team to work with Congress to solve the economic/deficit problems would be a home run for the Dems. It would take Obama to check his ego and admit mistakes in his first term but then he can say this team worked in a bipartisan way with split government once before when there were high deficits and turned it into surpluses, and we can do it again.

Good point. However the GOP took over a decade to get some traction back in the mid 1800s. You are right though, the way the country is going I can't see a Tea Party being a strong third party, but the best possibility of any third party hope. I was just thing with all the flack Palin gets from her own party, she could wreak havoc for them if she wanted to and they'd be smart to treat her with respect. Jesse Jackson had no hope of ever winning the Whitehouse or selected as a VP running mate, despite questions to that affect from black community, having set the all-time record for mobilizing democrat voter registration and democrat voter turnout. I also think he holds the democrat record of the most elected candidates of people he's endorsed/campaigned for. The democratic party wouldn't dare disrespect him like the GOP does Sarah Palin.

What do you know, we agree on something... But the question has to be asked. Is there a point where Biden's mouth becomes a bigger negative than dumping him would be?

p.s. See the difference between addressing a topic and following someone around just to insult them?
