Ryan gets caught in a lie about requesting Stimulus money...

I criticise him in the relevant thread where I see fit. Again, you have no authority to ask me about anything I do.

If you want to make a thread about me, I suggest you start a thread about me, this thread has a topic, and it's not about me, read the title.
:lamo no 'authority'...to...ask... :lamo

Mindless partisan hack starts a thread about mindless partisan topics...'why' deserves to get asked. Your response is rather...telling.

"authority" :lamo

on a personal note, the stimulus bill saved my ass pretty effectively when my position was cut in 2009. because of it, i was able to afford to COBRA my overpriced, for-profit, employer-linked health insurance. i ended up needing it, as the stress of finding another job in that lousy economy made me fairly significantly sick. had i not been able to continue coverage, i would have been even more screwed.

Has your state since then been able to pay back the loan and taxed its citizens and budgeted appropriately so as to take care of the needs of its citizens, or have we just heaped more debt on our grandkids to take care of what we didnt/havent/couldnt do?

Hey...that IS an answer ya know. We could stimulate the hell out of the economy...free money all around! Who cares who gets left with the bill!

I'm glad it helped your family. Truly. I think ALL states ought to be tasked to provide some for of health care services for its citizens in need and should have to pay for it. Less federal taxation will allow the states to more appropriately care for the needs of their citizens. Now...all we have to do is figure out who gets stuck with the bill and how much it will end up costing us, since the interest will keep compounding.

So let's see.

The attempt to "kill Romney" with a personal smear campaign appears to have come down to:

1. he put his dog on a car roof
2. he wants to put black people back in chains
3. he murdered some workers' wife
4. he is a felon

and now the spinning up of the smear campaign against Ryan has thus far produced:

1. He sold some stock he owns which means he must be engaged in inside trading
2. His office forwarded requests by constituents to the appropriate government offices which must mean he was secretly in favor of the stimulus

Yup. I would say ya'll are officially desperate :). But please, keep grasping at straws while the Romney/Ryan ticket talks about the economy and avoiding a fiscal cliff.

I'm afraid it's not telling you what you need to know. "Mindless political hacks" are allowed to make new threads, that's what this forums is for. It's "mindless political hack" like you who decided to derail the thread by bringing Obama into a thread that's not about him that's perverting the forum rule. And yes, you have no authority to question anyone. You are just the kind of "mindless political hack" you are accusing others of being. You made excuses for Ryan for his hypocrisy as political expediency and in the same thread you criticise Obama for acting out of the same political expediency. If you want to know the motivation behind "mindless political hacks", I suggest you have a conversation with yourself.

So his office forwarded some requests from his constituents, and he takes responsibility for the oversight.

Gosh, what a horrible person .

I wonder if you'd be so forgiving should it be the Obama administration instead.

If they are doing so badly, why are you telling them? Shouldn't you keep it to yourself and let them founder? If you believe what you write, why not just keep yourself out of these threads while the Democrats and their supporters help your candidates win the election by dissecting their past hypocrisy and personal details?

So his office forwarded some requests from his constituents, and he takes responsibility for the oversight.

Gosh, what a horrible person .

If it was a democrat you would not say they were a horrible person and call the person a liar?

I wonder if you'd be so forgiving should it be the Obama administration instead.

They would be all over it. The point is his staff wouldn't even write that letter if he didn't say to? It was clock work, so Ryan got caught. Ryan is just another lair. But why are we surprise? Republicans do this all the time. Against the in public but behind the scenes, they are plotting and scheming to abstract taxpayer money to the corporations.

No, it went this way: he claimed the Stimulus would not work and a waste of money, letters were sent in his name (not forwarded from somebody else) requesting the Stimulus money, he lied or made a false statement about not requesting for said money.

Not a horrible person, just a big hypocrite and either a liar or someone with a very convenient memory.

The Stimulus didn't work and was a waste of money

He's just anther lying politician...

Presented With Letters, Ryan Admits Requesting Stimulus Cash

By Gregory J. Krieg | ABC OTUS News – 10 hrs ago

After repeated denials, Paul Ryan has admitted he requested stimulus cash even after sharply criticizing the program.
As recently as Wednesday in Ohio, Mitt Romney's running mate told ABC's Cincinnati affiliate, WCPO, he did not.
"I never asked for stimulus," Ryan said. "I don't recall… so I really can't comment on it. I opposed the stimulus because it doesn't work, it didn't work."
Two years ago, during an interview on WBZ's NewsRadio he was asked by a caller if he "accepted any money" into his district. Ryan said he did not.
"I'm not one [of those] people who votes for something then writes to the government to ask them to send us money. I did not request any stimulus money," the congressman answered.
But as we've now learned, Ryan did write letters. He did request stimulus funds.
"The Olympics may be over but Paul Ryan could have gotten a gold medal in hypocrisy," a senior administration official told ABC's Jake Tapper. "As someone who spends all day every day railing against government spending, but then secretly seeks millions in funds for pet projects, he is as Washington as it gets."
In 2009, Ryan wrote to Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis asking for stimulus money to cover costs on two energy conservation projects in his home state of Wisconsin. In the letter, Ryan said the funds would help create jobs and reduce "energy consumption" in the state. At least one of the companies received the requested cash.
The letters were first obtained by The Wall Street Journal through the Freedom of Information Act back in early 2010. The Boston Globe turned them up for the first time during this campaign season Wednesday. At that point, a Ryan aide referred ABC News back to what a Ryan spokesman said when the letters first went public.
"If Congressman Ryan is asked to help a Wisconsin entity applying for existing Federal grant funds, he does not believe flawed policy should get in the way of doing his job and providing a legitimate constituent service to his employers," the spokesman told the Milwaukee (Wisc.) Journal Sentinel.
Thursday, Ryan responded to the questions himself.
"After having these letters called to my attention I checked into them, and they were treated as constituent service requests in the same way matters involving Social Security or Veterans Affairs are handled," Ryan said in a statement. "This is why I didn't recall the letters earlier. But they should have been handled differently, and I take responsibility for that.
"Regardless, it's clear that the Obama stimulus did nothing to stimulate the economy, and now the President is asking to do it all over again."

This is really disappointing...Ryan looking like just another typical politician!

So Ryan, who is so lauded by the right wing for he seat on the high horse, declares he doesn't ask for what he opposes, the stimulus, but doesn't tell his staff to at least bring to his attention any requests for stimulus money from his district?

Ok we all know he isn't that great an organizer, his so-called budget shows that, but he has had plenty of examples of how bad it looks to be seen as endorsing programs you rail so hard against and where you make your political capital.

He is either a fool, arrogant or a liar...

"I don't recall", I cringed when President Reagan flew that during Iran Contra, but it sure seems to be a politicians excuse for many sins these days.

So his office forwarded some requests from his constituents, and he takes responsibility for the oversight.

Gosh, what a horrible person .

Ryan's family made their fortune on Govt. contracts, hypocrisy is in his blood. Ryan took that "family" money and after 25 years in Washington is worth $7.5 million. That's a real teaparty man alright. Milking the Govt. teat for all its worth.

This all part of vetting the candidates, we as voters are entitled to know everything about the candidates past, what he has said and what he has done, who he was mentored by and what he believes.

Oh, sorry I forgot. Vetting applies to everyone but Obama, he is the messiah, the black Jesus, he is above vetting. ALL HAIL OBAMA, SAVIOR OF THE WORLD :lamo

my state has a balanced budget. it got there by selling a road for 75 years and firing a bunch of teachers / cutting $300+ million from education. then it found half a billion dollars that it had "misplaced." oops. unfortunately, we haven't hired the teachers back, because they are evil union members. those in charge are scratching their heads about why our schools are failing. it's unreal.

however, i'm sure that there are other union workers to fire if the state has to pay back anything else. can't use the half bil; we have sports teams to pay for.

Hey...that IS an answer ya know. We could stimulate the hell out of the economy...free money all around! Who cares who gets left with the bill!

i proposed no such program.

we need to make health insurance completely independent of employment. the model almost worked when you would take an entry level job at a company, work your way up, and stay there through retirement. in the current zero job security market, it doesn't work at all. we need to do something about it, and soon.

First Ryan was too far right and extreme. These are desperate tactics because Obama and his supporters have no ideas.

Now the WH wants us to think he's too liberal as his cultists run around bitterly trying to hold into the Hope and Change.

Ryan talks the talk, but he still needs to prove to me that he can walk the walk. That means saying NO to Big Oil subsidies. If he really wants to cut government spending then lets start with Corporate Entitlements!

I wonder if you'd be so forgiving should it be the Obama administration instead.

If they said "we screwed up and we take responsibility for that"? Yes. Have you ever known them to do so?

Then you should appreciate these:

Ryan's actual letters requesting federal stimulus funds. Talk about some self pwnage...

 like he said, they were handled with the SS/VA requests and forwarded on, and he takes responsibility for the screw up.

.."After having these letters called to my attention I checked into them, and they were treated as constituent service requests in the same way matters involving Social Security or Veterans Affairs are handled," Ryan said in a statement. Self-Pwnage is when one unwittingly pwns oneself. It's hard to self-pwn when one has already admitted and taken responsibility for error.

This is the biggest issue that is facing our country today? Whether or not Ryan requested or someone on his staff requested stimulus money?

If they are doing so badly, why are you telling them?

Because we are the people with nothing better to do than rant at anonymous posters on teh interwebs. I sincerely doubt anyone here is involved at the strategic level with Obama campaign message development.

It is certainly more important than the Presidents' $716 Bn cuts to Medicare for current seniors, or the unemployment rate.
