From the Colin Powell page on wikipedia:
...on October 19, 2008, Powell announced his endorsement of Barack Obama during a Meet the Press interview, citing "his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities," in addition to his "style and substance." He additionally referred to Obama as a "transformational figure"...I think we need a transformational figure. I think we need a president who is a generational change and that's why I'm supporting Barack Obama...

I'm not sure that the "transformational figure" transformed in the right direction. I haven't seen Powell endorse him this time, but I wouldn't put any faith in his endorsement anyway.

In October of 2008 The Economist cited a poll that indicated Obama was "winning 22% of self-described conservatives, a higher proportion than any Democratic nominee since 1980." February 2012 polls conducted that 20% of Republicans may vote for Obama.

The list of Right wingers and COnservatives who have supported Obama is impressive. It includes:

<---- and cpwill.

It was patently obvious that he and the Democrat Congress were going to fail, just as it was patently obvious that McCain had no idea what he was doing, and would have done at best only somewhat less damage.

Ergo, let the American people get a real taste of far-leftism, let it fail publicly, and use the time in the wilderness to bring the GOP back to heel.

:) If I do say so myself, it worked out pretty well.

... After all, even Republicans who opposed Obama in 2008 seemed willing to give him a chance at first. Now, it's tough to find any prominent examples -- not that it's unusual for parties to toe the line before a presidential election. And the most high-profile Obamacons, especially Colin Powell, have not yet delivered their endorsements. ...

but that does not mean he is not being courted by Obama:
... He endorsed Obama in 2008 but has yet to support him in 2012. He said in May that he has known Mitt Romney "for many years, good man.” ...

So then what is your point?

From the Colin Powell page on wikipedia:

LMFAO... Thanks for more irrelevant information...

Colin Powell (a Black man, who was ushered out of the Bush Administration), endorsed the first Black to win a major party's nomination to run for president against McCain who was going to leave most of Bush's Administration in place? GO FIGURE!!!

In 2012, Colin Powell has endorsed neither Obama or Romney... He said he is waiting to see how Mitt Romney plays it regarding defense...

But, who is Colin Powell anyway? Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces... But, he's also the guy who as Secretary of State Democrats lambasted for lying to the world in front of the UN... Now suddenly they find him free of fault and fully qualified to criticize Republicans... My my what different a change in political persuasion makes...

Colin Powell has very little experience dealing with anything other than foreign affairs and african american history... His opinion on a Military General is very relevant... His opinion on who is best to handle the economy is as good as you or I, if not worse...

Did you cite the list of people who voted for Barack Obama in '08, who have sworn off voting for him this time around? That would be an interesting list (and a much larger one, as well)...

Powell supported Obama out of racial pride, to say otherwise is to deny reality.

Black pride and white guilt put the worst president in history in the whitehouse.

Maybe common sense will remove him.

Anyone remember Artur Davis? He's the (now former) Democrat Congressman who seconded Obama's nomination in 2008.

If you don't know who he his, you can see him at the Republican National Convention next month...Stumping for Mitt Romney.

“President Obama — Senator Obama — ran on two broad themes,” Davis added. “One of those broad themes was reunifying this country. And another broad theme was turning this economy around. I’ll certainly be talking about those two failures.”

You're a racist. Plain and simple.

Continued frivilous use of that card has caused it be null and void. Move on please.:lamo
Racism isnt a laughing matter - especially to folks have experienced the wrong side of it.

Yes, because as Oxycontin Rush said, the only reason he endorsed him was because he was black. And Rush must be obeyed!

get over it, wigg. half the country agrees with that asseesment of Powell. Rush is an entertainer. I know he scares you libs because he tells the truth about you, but he has no real political power.

Your partisan hackery assumption absolutely is a laughing matter. You're personally attacking other posters with an accusation that is baseless. You don't know them and there is nothing on this thread that could even remotely give you definitive proof of your accusation.

Your words prove that you are a racist.

How does telling the truth about why obama was elected make me a racist? I said that black pride and white guilt got him elected. How is that a racist comment?

If you are so naive that you think race was not a factor in his election, then you are totally out of touch with reality.

powell's endorsement and obama's books
You have shown nothing. Cite your proof, cite any passage from either person showing racism by that person.

If you have nothing.....then you are a liar.

There is no proof. Bobcat is a racist, plain and simple.
Simple-mided racists will NEVER support a black man as president. They would rather see our great nation go down in flames, they'd rather see a Depression than see a black man lead our great nation. It is sad and pathetic!
