The group announced on Tuesday that it will be releasing a song later this month called "Don't Roof Rack Me Bro! (Remember Seamus)," as part of an effort to keep in the spotlight one of Romney's more embarrassing anecdotes: during a long-ago family road trip, he kept his Irish setter dog Seamus in a roof rack-attached cage on the top of his car.

An important detail: the dog had diarrhea, which Romney dealth with by hosing down his car and keeping Seamus' fur flowing in the wind.

Casale is also launching a website called RememberSeamus.com, which aims to make 2012 the year where "animals like Seamus are valued and honesty is praised," and voters are given "the dog's honest truth."

I heard part of the story before, but I never knew the dog had diarrhea. WTF! I already thought the story was bad enough and would fall under animal abuse, but the fact that the dog was sick makes it even worse. Why would they even bring a sick dog on vacation with them?

You would think he could have hired a dog sitter or something, and who wants a dog ****ting on their car?

That's so awesome... and relevant, too...

I can't wait for a British New Wave Pop band full of gays that is best known for the song "Whip It" has to say about American politics and appropriate treatment of animals...

Next can we hear a song from Marilyn Manson about how he feels about snuggies?

British new wave band full of gays??? Wow, more proof of how misinformed fox viewers are. Devo actually are from Ohio. They were attending Kent State during the fateful shootings in the early 70s when the national guard turned their weapons on peaceful student demonstrators killing four and inuring countless others. Devo's founders were inspired my these events to create a performing art/musical group with the purpose of expressing the dangers of de-evolution...DE-VO. They have been an AMERICAN protest band like no other for nearly 40 years. To dismiss them as a 80s BRITISH new wave pop band full of gays (none of them are gay btw - although Mark mothersbaugh was married to Gilda Radner which might express bad taste but not homosexuality) is typical of the kind of ignorance that gives so many FOXbots a bad name...

Said like a true CONServative... (or maybe not)

So I mistook the American New Wave (performing art/musical) pop group for a British New Wave pop group... I certainly didn't learn about em through FOX News... it was through watching their crap on MTV growing up... nice try on that, though... I'm sorry I insulted your favorite band... :lamo

I still fail to see where this is relevant in any way...

Idiots and a-holes all have their opinions... whether they're musical or not doesn't make them anymore intelligent or informed, and doesn't make anything they say more or less relevant... and like I said... Marilyn Manson, who also from America, and has his own perfoming art/musical group that makes social critique about American lifestyle, potentially writing a song about snuggies has just as much relevance as this...

OMG shocking... liberal psuedo politically active musicians... Color me impressed...

LMFAO @ Hired a Dog-Sitter in rural MI back in the 1970s... That's too precious... Oh if only the world was the way it is viewed at by the liberal elitists who haven't a clue and "never" do any wrong...

My dog gets the runs ever so often. It doesn't necessarily mean he's deathly ill or in need of immediate care. It usually just means he ate his damned squeaky toy again. Usually the poops before and after are completely normal.

I'm not a fan of people who put their dogs in cages outside of the vehicle, period. But it happened almost 40 years ago?! Do you make the same mistakes you made even five years ago?

So basically what you're saying the the National Guardsmen simply shot the wrong people at Kent State.

Wow! I though Devo was dead!

Hmmm.....wonder if Devo will write a song about Kung Pow Poochie for Obama as well?

I didn't know much about the incident until this news, so I think they are accomplishing their goal on some level. I also feel that they are valid as anybody else feel the treatment of the dog was inhumane and wrong.

Yeah, he could have easily hired a friend or found a house sitter to take care of his dog. It has nothing to do with elitism. I have watched people's houses and pets for free. I think it would have been more practical than putting a dog on the roof of your car and letting it **** down both sides.

I would feel better if I had the freedom to roll the windows down on a long car trip. I wouldn't want to stop every few hours and hose the car and the dog down.

I don't see the common sense or the concern for the dog in this act.

In other news Wang Chung will be releasing a song about Obama eating dog entitled "Dog Meat On The Roof Of My Mouth"

Personally I don't think this is an argument as to why people shouldn't vote for Romney, but I still do see something wrong with the situation and I am not going to join people in making light of it.

I really don't care that it is Devo either. The fact that Devo has something to say about Romney is news in itself, because who the hell is Devo and why should I care. Upon hearing what they said, I don't care it's Devo either... but they are the only people and group of people whom seem to be making this an issue on such a level.

But again, if it were Lady Gaga or Tom Cruise... nobody would give a **** either. I understand that.

Ah another lame band from the 80's trying to regain relevancy 30 years later, OMFG how is this news? The fact that this registers on anyone's give-a-sh!tometer says more about them.

You still don't know much about the story, do you....

It's odd that you don't, too, because this issue had been dealt with and put to bed by most people...

It was 30-40 years ago... They were going on vacation, loved the dog, treated it like family, and wanted the dog to go with them on their road trip... So, he took the dog with the family in a huge station wagon... Because he's got 5 sons and him and his wife, he put the dog up in a carrying case strapped to the roof of the station wagon... Which the dog used to love doing... and I don't see the big deal... people have had dogs riding in the back of pick-up trucks for the longest time... and they love doing that, too... You're lying if you've never seen a dog riding a car sticking its head out the window... they simply love it...
This is no different... In fact this is actually safer since it's restrained in an enclosed space in case of a sudden stoppage...

On one particular trip, during the middle of the long road trip... It threw up a few times... and Mitt Romney washed the car off, and sprayed the dog to cool it down... so it would feel better...

It came to light, because one of his sons was laughing about it with a reporter one day... suddenly, it becomes cannon fodder for Romney's opponents (which his son should've known better... )

So yes, he could've hired a friend... BUT NO ONE DID THAT 30-40 YEARS AGO!!! People take pets on road trips with them all the time... still today... but even more so back then... It's really a NON-STORY...

(See Chevy Chase taking the Grandmother's dog with them for the trip with them in the National Lampoon Vacation movies... BEFORE THE PART THAT HE STRAPS HIM TO THE BUMPER AND LEAVES IT THERE, OBVIOUSLY!!!)

Now, if you're seriously considering this issue as whether to vote for a guy or not... then you should address the candidates equally...

Mitt Romney treated his dog like family, took it on a road trip with them, and sprayed it with a hose...

OBAMA USED TO EAT DOGS FOR MEALS IN INDONESIA!!!!!

I don't think this issue should matter in any way what-so-ever... But if you feel it is... Romney has the better credentials on treatment of dogs...

(and it should be noted, DEVO have already done concerts for fund raisers of Obama in 2008... and will likely this year as well... so their lean in this matter is duly noted)...

It was stupid, sure. Everyone does a couple bonehead things every now and then. But inhumane? Seriously? You ever been out in the country? dogs ride in open bed pickups going down the highway all the time. Get off your bull**** high horse.

I don't know, there are way better things (like policy, record, etc.) to go after Romney on than what he did to his dog. Dog even survived, maybe won't stick its head out the window no more, but not really worse for wear.

A dog sitting in a truck bed is different from a sick dog being hosed down on top of a car and suffering diarrhea. I have seen dogs and people ride in truck beds, but I have never seen dogs or people ride in cages strapped to the roof of a car

It was called car surfing (though they weren't strapped down....probably would have been safer), bunch of idiots died because of it.

I agree, and I am not trying to go after Romney about this. At the same time, I don't think it should be made light of either. This should not influence somebody in the way they'll vote for him, and I don't expect it to. I just think the act in itself is far from fine. It seems cruel to me.

Maybe the dog suffered from seperation anxiety, in which case it would have been crueler to leave it at a kennel or with a stranger. And maybe it got car sick right close to the end of the trip and had to be hosed off once and maybe this is about the dumbest issue that's ever been discussed in a presidential campaign.

Awww the doggie had the poo-poos. So the **** what?

Should they have shot the dog instead? Cancel their vacation because their dog got the ****s? Your feigned outrage is pathetic.

Actually, given the dog's condition and the situation the Romney's were in, it's not ideal but I do think it's a defensible action.

Anyone who under estimates the power of entertainment celebrities in our corporate consumer pop culture is making a very big mistake. John Lennon understood this power, so does Devo.
With that said, Devo is from Ohio, a swing state. Even if they change just a few voters mind's in Ohio, they will be able to say that their efforts were a success.

Idiots and a-holes all have their opinions...
Yeah, I know. I've read several of your posts.
