[h=1]Team Romney Scares Conservatives By Touting ‘Romneycare’[/h]
Mitt Romney’s campaign is giving conservatives quite a scare this week by touting Romney’s Massachusetts health care overhaul — a subject Romney has gone to great lengths to avoid.
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul brought up the law in response to aPriorities USA ad in which a steelworker, who lost his job after Bain Capital closed the GST Steel mill where he worked, connects his unemployment — and resulting lack of health insurance — to the death of his wife.
Team Romney’s response: He should have lived in Massachusetts.
On two Fox News appearances Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, Saul countered that if the steelworker, Joe Soptic, and his wife had lived in Massachusetts, they would have kept their insurance under Romney’s health care reform law.
“To that point, if people had been in Massachusetts, under Gov. Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care,” Saul said Tuesday.

I would actually like to have seen the former Governor of Mass. challenge the President -- I would've like to hear how THAT Mitt Romney, the moderate Republican, might purpose fixing the problems we face.

No such luck.

I'm surprise Team Romney was daring enough to make such a statement!

Not much of a surprise to me.

After all, Romney has said all along that it's okay if States go with it...but it's a different issue for the federal government to go with it. It fits with his "encourage States rights"/"reduce big federal government" stance.

I hope Joe Soptic doesnt turn into Joe, the steelworker. Joe the Plumber was bad enough.

Team Romney reminds me an awful lot of another team - the Washington Generals.

Conservatives stopped listening to Mitt Romney a long time ago. We know who and what he is, and that we have no reason to even consider supporting this Socialist POS.

Kind of like he supported the states right to make decisions about welfare work requirements and forms.... ooops that's not the states right, or is it? I'm thoroughly confused by this guy...

Except that the Washington Generals are paid to lose... The Republican party, OTH, has been aiming that bazooka at its foot ever since it embraced the "TEA Party".

Romney moving to the center would be a very good move for him. He is going to get the base, but you can't win on the base alone. You have to win two of three battles to win an election: 1) get out your base; 2) don't do something to ensure the turnout of the other guys base and 3) win the independent/undecided. Without a move to the center, he is not going to win battles 2 and 3.

The problem with the embracing of the TEA party is that it has taken the base so far to the right that it has become exceedingly difficult to tact to close enough to the center to win independents (3) without disappointing your own base (1), making winning the White House pretty difficult

The conservatives who stopped listening to Romney represent the useless 5% of the population... Who cares... There are some 15-20% of us in the middle who wouldn't vote for a strict right-wing nut job, and you'd lose everytime running that way...

Besides... any person who would call themselves conservative, and would support the re-election of Obama over Romney, calling Romney a Socialist POS really needs to get their head checked... Obama is a "Socialist POS"... Whereas you differ with Romney on a select few issues, but overall are fighting for the same thing...

You voting for Gary Johnson then?

Most of that 15-20% in the middle are going to vote for Obama anyway. Besides, it's better to run on Principles and LOSE than to sell one's soul to try to win (nevermind to LOSE, like Romney will).

No, I disagree with Romney on almost EVERY issue, because Mitt Romney does not actually have any PRINCIPLES to speak of. He didn't when he was the Governor of this state and he won't at any other time in his life. Romney is no more or less a Socialsit POS than Obama is.

I'm not likely supporting ANYONE in the Presidential race this fall.

LOL. Not even if you put a gun to my head. There's a reason that party is called the LIBERALtarians rather than the CONSERVAtarians, dan.

Because he can... he has one to run on...

Obama... does not...

Yeah, there are actually two records that RINO Romney can run on. The one where he flips and then the one where he flops.

Seriously how can any one who actually cares about the future of the Republican Party and the future of our country even think about voting for this flip-flopping, spineless Liberal in Republicans-clothing?

I'm more interested in the blatant lies in the Obama Campaign ad than some dumb spokehole's gaffe

If Romney is such a RINO than why don't you vote for him?

Unless you want to tell me you're voting for Obama because of his record as president. Didn't think so.

I will not vote for Obama because I do not agree with his ideology. But as a Republican there is nothing I respect LESS than a RINO. IMO they are worse than blatant Liberals. I have no problem with someone who honestly disagrees with my ideology - what I can't stand is a liar, who pretends to agree with my ideology just to get my vote or manipulate me. Someone with no integrity, someone of the lowest moral character, a flip flopper a spineless turd who will say anything to get elected. In other words: Mitt Romney

You mean lies like claiming it was an Obama campaign ad?

Obama does not have a record? So all the things his critics attack and his supporter praise, they don't exist?

Exactly; he is somehow both a socialist fascist communist nazi who has seized all the power so he can be the king and also a president who hasnt accomplished anything. Cognitive dissonance? What cognitive dissonance?

And what decent American cares more about the future of the Republican Party than the future of the entire country?

If you'd rather jeopardize 4 years of Obama ruining your country to promote the health of a fractured political party, you have major issues, and need a priority check...

What decent American has as his No. 1 goal making Obama a one-term president ... when the country is facing a once-in-three-generations recession?
