If you don't guess it soon, I'll give you the answer.

Is it that GM would have gone bankrupt without the government's help?

Or is it that the guy lost his health insurance, his wife got sick two years later, died, and it's Obama's fault?

Hmm, given that Romney would have let GM fail, I reckon Obama could make an ad talking about the thousands of GM and Chrysler dealerships that would be history if Mitt had been in charge ... in addition to the hundreds of thousands of GM and Chrysler employees ... and hundreds of thousand of employees of component manufacturers.

GM would have gone through bankruptcy restructuring. "Hundreds of thousands of GM and Chrysler employees" and "hundreds of thousands of employees of component manufacturers" would not have lost their jobs.

Did Obama pay for this ad? I'm not even sure I'm following.

Obama gives GM a bailout, they close his shop, he wants to vote for the guy who'd have let the company go under and not even given them a fighting chance? What?

That's pretty mystifying. I don't get it. Seems like it should be an Obama ad, not a Romney ad.

There was historical precedence for the GM & Chrysler bailouts and they both accomplished their purpose, more or less.

And the answer is probably that it began under Bush.

But Obama supported the move and continued the program.

It's too bad pro-Romney "Independents" will come out and say it was Romney's idea to bail these companies out.

GM would have gone through bankruptcy restructuring.

Absolutely wrong. There is no way GM would have qualified for retructuring without the bailouts. They would have been liquidated.

...Then why did it work?

On the March 30, 2009 deadline President Barack Obama declined to provide financial aid to General Motors, and requested that General Motors produce credible plans, saying that the company's proposals had avoided tough decisions, and that Chapter 11 bankruptcy appeared the most promising way to reduce its debts, by allowing the courts to compel bondholders and trade unions into settlements.[23] GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner was also forced to resign.[24] GM bondholders rejected the government's first offer, but the unions agreed to the preferential terms.[25] A bondholder debt to equity counteroffer was ignored.[26]

Let's ignore for a moment that Mitt Romney's solution to what ailed General Motors was to just let the whole damn thing fail, thus making this choice of topics a rather curious choice at best for Mitt's increasingly self-satirizing campaign. His ad blaming Barack Obama for GM's closing of auto dealerships in Ohio has other problems as well. The outdoor footage at the four second mark? It's a clip of downtown Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City is notable for, among other things, not being in Ohio.

Romney's Ohio ad uses footage from the wrong state - Democratic Underground

Yea, Romney's ad about Ohio was done in Oklahoma City. LOL.

...Then why did it work?

It worked because Obama did in fact authorize the bailouts that allowed them to proceed through Chaper 11.
