Priorities ad ties Mitt Romney to cancer death

This is defintely shaping up to be a down and dirty election by both sides. What a shame that politics have come to this.

So you think Romney really cared about the people that Bain laid off? Bain was about making money. He would have been a failure if he worried about eveyones job and benefits. You can't deny that and that's why his "skills" do not make him good President.

I guess I could say the same about Obama, with unemployment over 8% for over 42 months, more poor under Obama than any other president, the black community unemployment is 14%, and on top of all this he added almost 6 trillion to the national debt in just 4 yrs. And you think he has the "skills" to be president?

I have to hand it to the Obama seek and destroy team, this is really good stuff. Romney stuffed the woman into an electric chair and pulled the lever. Who would have known.

LOL Like your side wouldn't do all of that if they thought it was to their advantage. I say go for it. Nominate Donald Trump for VP while your at it. Race baiting will only increase Obama's margin of victory.

Wrong. Not being a partisan hack I do not have a side. Witness that by my dislike for Obama but someone who votes essentially democratic for decades.

Sad that someone could call themselves a liberal and think going over the line and actually lying in an ad is OK.

You might want to take a closer look in the mirror. Just sayin'....

Gets even worse. Turns out its a big fat lie too. The person mentioned in the ad didn't even know she had cancer two weeks before her death.

Woman mentioned in Priorities ad died in '06 - POLITICO.com

That article mentions how Democrats' contend Romney was still a top executive at Bain until 2002 ... makes one wonder if the the reason Romney doesn't want to release his last 10 years of tax returns is because they might reveal that to be true?

New ad ties Romney to cancer death - The Washington Post

So Romney caused this woman's death!! This is what Obama or one his PAC friends is pushing. Obvious Romney himself pulled the lever and injected this woman with cancer. The Stage IV cancer develop right after the husband lost his job.

This is a terrible ad, but it was not approved by Obama. It's from the PAC and they should be called out for it. Super PACS are wrong and the supreme court should be called out for allowing these PACS to exist!!!!!

First off the add is backfiring on obama and his legions, people are repulsed by using this family's tragedy for political gain. Secondly if you really want to go down that ridiculous disgusting and desperate road how many people lost their jobs and their insurance when obama motors shut down half their dealerships.

While that's true, I suspect many on the right will blame Obama for the ad and tar & feather him for it. :(

Hint: I speak for me. Complicated, but true. I am not responsible for what the other random guy on the internet said that you want to reference, nor is he responsible for what I say, nor are you responsible for what any one else says. Welcome to the wonderful world of personal responsibility, which is a liberal ideal.

I have to say...if it is, it is an ideal they "support" with antithetical policy.

You do know that the guy that runs this PAC was until recently part of the obama white house team don't you? I'm sure there is no communication or cooperation between him and obama. LMAO

What I find particularly disturbing is the politicization of the woman's death for no other reason than it might help Obama win reelection. Shame on the Super PAC, shame on the widower.

Even CNN is trashing this attack add. If even CNN can see the truth obama and his mindless lemming supporters better run for cover.

Why don't you take this opportunity to explain how Obama is responsible for the content of that ad?

That was a douche move, and hopefully the PAC gets the backlash it deserves.

While I don't think Romney is responsible for the woman's death, I do see the point the ad is making. Severe damage is done to communities and families when a company is destroyed for profit. Employees are left without money for food, housing, clothing and usually without lifesaving insurance.

The same ad could be run about any venture capitalist who earns millions from stripping employees of pensions and healthcare benefits.

But they weren't w/o insurance until more than a year later when his wife lost/quit her job due to injury. If she was disabled she could have applied for disability and medicare. If she wasn't disabled she could have found another job (as could the husband). Five years? And that's Romney's fault? The point is exaggeration and distortion.

Bill Burton until recently was a big part of obama's communication team. He left to start a super PAC to support obama's reelection. Some try to say obama has no part in this repulsive add, it doesn't pass the smell test. This add has been proven blatantly dishonest and reflects badly with the independent voters who will think to themselves, what else is obama lying about?

"In an interview Friday with Bloomberg Television, Bill Burton, the former White House spokesman who now heads Priorities USA, said he hopes to raise $100 million by Election Day."

Priorities USA’s June Haul: $6.1 Million - Washington Wire - WSJ

"Burton helped propel Barack Obama to the presidency as his 2008 campaign national press secretary, and then signed on as White House deputy press secretary. Burton helps craft the administration's message, and often subs for press secretary Robert Gibbs at press briefings-much to the delight of the White House press corps."

Surely you saw Stephen Colbert's series on how to circumvent the rules of Super PAC operation. It isn't beyond the realm of imagination to think that both Romney and Obama have a behind the scenes relationship with the heads of the Super PACs that back them.

Is that the same Medicare and Disability that Romney would like to shrink? The idea that someone can just "go find another job" with insurance is not correct. Jobs with good benefits are not easy to come by for some people, and some companies would hesitate to hire someone who has or whose spouse has an expensive medical problem.

Even if that were the case for the majority (and it isn't), it doesn't make Romney or Bain responsible for the woman's lack of insurance, or the fact that she got cancer, or the fact that it apparently took her husband more than five years to find another job with medical insurance.

As for shrinking Medicare/Disability, shrinking expenditures absolutely does not mean you must shrink services. It should mean that administrative costs and procedures are minimized and streamlined to kill off the overhead. It isn't Romney's fault (or anybody else's proposing cuts) that nobody holds these departments and programs to a high level of financial accountability.

It's like blaming Perry for DISD laying off teachers when he had to cut state funding to the district. DISD has a huge amount of excessive spending and waste, but the first thing they went after were teachers. Not Perry's fault the district refused to do the responsible thing. Forgive me for not buying into the stupid partisan crap.
