President Obama's lawsuit claiming it is unconstitutional for Ohio to allow servicemen and women extended early voting privileges during the state’s early voting period is an outrage. The brave men and women of our military make tremendous sacrifices to protect and defend our freedoms, and we should do everything we can to protect their fundamental right to vote. I stand with the fifteen military groups that are defending the rights of military voters, and if I'm entrusted to be the commander-in-chief, I'll work to protect the voting rights of our military, not undermine them.

It is a lie, pure and simple. The lawsuit is against a voter purge stunt that the Ohio GOP have put through. Even Fox News calls Romney's bluff while trying to defend it.. kinda ironic.

Obama campaign sues Ohio over early voting law for military | Fox News

Top Obama campaign officials told Fox News in interviews that the lawsuit in no way tries to restrict the voting rights of military members. All they are trying to do is even the playing field for all voters in Ohio by allowing early voting up until Monday for everyone, including members of the military, because they believe a two-tiered, early-voting process is unfair.
"Along with the DNC and Ohio Democratic Party, this campaign filed a lawsuit to reinstate equal, early-voting rights for all Ohioans -- rights the Republican-controlled legislature arbitrarily stripped away this past year," Jim Messina, Obama's campaign manager, told supporters in an email.

Of course the GOP is trying to spin this law suit into "they want to take away the rights of military personnel" and totally ignore the fact that the GOP took that very same right away from non-military personnel, and that if the Dems win the lawsuit, it wont take any rights away, it will in fact give more rights to the citizens of Ohio... typical GOP horse****.

Sadly Romney had to listen to his GOP handlers instead of actually looking into the case and now his facebook comment is a matter of public record that will be used against him...

This could be costly for him in Ohio if used...

Romney taking a page from Bush v. Gore.

Fox's Evening News Show Lies About Military Voting In Ohio

Special Report guest host Shannon Bream falsely claimed that the Obama campaign is suing to prevent military voters in Ohio from having extra time to cast their ballots. In reality, the lawsuit seeks to allow all voters in Ohio to cast their ballots during the window open to military personnel and their families. The lawsuit does not seek to restrict voting by military families in any way.

Correspondent Ed Henry followed with a misleading report that included a clip of Mitt Romney saying that it would be a disservice to members of the military to try to impede them from voting. But Henry did not cite any evidence that the lawsuit is intended to impede military voting.

To be perfectly honest, I'm getting rather tired of all the facts that get misconstrued from both sides. I'm not one bit surprised at this news though. I'm looking forward to the debates where hopefully these sort of things don't happen. Wouldnt put it pass Mitt Insert Foot In Mouth Romney however. Obama should have fun. Hand gestures are very classy.

At this point, while it's always useful to point out when one candidate's campaign is lying about the other, it's also pointless to complain about it. Neither of these guys are trying to change politics or be especially moral in the way they conduct themselves in this campaign.

if this is a lie, why are at least 15 different military and veterans groups coming out publicly against it? it seems more like it is the truth, and obama campaign trying to do damage control. has anyone actually read the lawsuit?

The lawsuit is just a grandstand for Obama. The early voting period for military has a very legitimate purpose because the very specific cirumstances in which they have to vote. Everyone can vote absentee already so there is no reason to include everybody in this provision. Obama knows he won't win the military vote so he is trying to buy more time to get out the votes from his constituancy groups to counteract it. Obama is completely disengenous so-called fairness here.
