Would it be better for Romney to come clean now - if its true that he hasnt paid his taxes - so that we can nominate Paul or possibly someone else as our Republican candidate?

False narrative, the argument is not that he did not pay his taxes.

If Romney hadn't paid his taxes, wouldn't have been charged by the IRS for failing to pay his taxes?

Whatchew talking about Willis?
If it turns out that Romney did not pay his taxes, he becomes the posterboy for the ceo/wall street crook. Even if he doesnt release his taxes there is a good chance that this is the label attached to him. In either case he wont have a chance to win the election. And if he can't win the election, then what is the point of nominating him as our Republican candidate???

He's paid his taxes, but how much is left that he avoided? That is the question. Honestly, I think Romney would be a good candidate if he wasn't both a snob and a pathological liar.

a snob? where do you get that? because he is wealthy? or because some left-winger told you that.

Are you calling the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid a liar? He has stated that Romney has proof (which he will not disclose) that Romney paid no taxes for 10 years.

Yup and without hesitation. Harry sometimes-insane-things-come-out-of-my-mouth Reid is indeed full of crapola.

Look, Romney is no Conservative dream candidate. He's boring. His conservatism is one more of convenience less than conviction. But if there is anything that the guy is, it's squeaky clean.

Meanwhile, Reid, who has only worked in the private sector for two years, is somehow nonetheless a multi-millionaire....

His "proof" was a phone call. An anonymous one.

Re: If Romney DIDNT pay his taxes, is it too late 4 the Republican Party 2 nominate P

No, not yet.

Also, if the president is from Mars (that whole Kenya thing was just a front), it's not too late to nominate Dennis Kucinich. Conspiracy theories, yay.

Again, the only way this is "news" is that the SENATE MAJORITY LEADER is engaging nakedly in hearsay and slander.

Where is Harry's proof? Where's Harry's "witness"? Or is Harry just "fishin'"? Harry has the burden of proof on his back, so where is it?

Didn't Harry also say he didn't "know if this was true or false"?

It's either one or the other and Harry needs to prove what he has accused Romney of doing. I think Harry should have to back up his claim or say he lied.

If Romney did not pay taxes then I admire the fact that Romney found a way to not pay taxes and I would like to not pay taxes too. And so should Ron Paul supporters if they actually give a **** about the free market.

Reid is known to take a political meme, and run with it. In 2008, he jumped on the "McCain is a deranged old guy and has a temper" meme.

At first he just said that he'd "heard" that Romney was a tax-fraud felon, and that he didn't know. then on the Senate Floor he just declared it to be fact. apparently even Reid can't keep up with what crazy utterance he is supposed to be making on a daily basis.

Re: If Romney DIDNT pay his taxes, is it too late 4 the Republican Party 2 nominate P

By now I'm sure there's been an examination of Romney's past returns at the IRS. If there were anything to hear I'm betting we'd hear it.

Then Harry needs to either provide proof of his allegations or step up and say he lied. I know it won't happen, but it would be refreshing to hear the truth.

Not according to polls that have obama by a landslide.

Or maybe romney can just release his tax returns to make reid look like a fool. Would't it be refreshing to prove reid lied?

The Republican Party will never nominate Ron Paul, so get that silly dream out of your head.

RealClearPolitics - 2012 Election Maps - Electoral Map No Toss Ups

Thank you for nominating an easy victory for obama.

You posted a map based on no toss-ups. There are currently 100 toss up electoral votes. Romney is projected to have a "guaranteed" 191 to Obama's 247. Of those toss up states, all of those polled in the last week have the candidates within 3 points of one another (or well within the margin of error). Of those states that lean Obama (counted as part of his "guaranteed" votes), several of his leads are under 10 points.

And it's August. We haven't had either convention and no debates.

In other words: Don't count your chickens, the map you picked is misleading.

How about Reid be brought before the "Ethics Committee" and have him prove what he said? He said it, so doesn't Reid have to prove it? Or do you just "believe" without proof?

The reason the no toss-up maps looks like that is from the Quinnapac poll that oversampled Democrats by over 10%. Even the pollster acknowledged that these numbers are very unlikely come election day. RCP just posts the results. The race is a dead heat right now, anyone suggesting otherwise is living in some partisan hack fantasy land.

The easy way to prove it is for Romney to release his tax returns. Romney himself said "I believe to the best of my knowledge that I have paid my taxes"....TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE? You either know or you don't. When someone makes a statement like that, it raises all kinds of red flags that they are hiding something. I suspect when the returns come out and show that he avoided paying taxes by putting his money in tax shelter and overshore accounts in the Cayman Islands, he will say "I THOUGHT that I had, but I guess I was wrong"....kinda like Ronald "My heart wants to believe that I didn't lie to the American people, but the facts say otherwise" Reagan.

The race is a dead heat in a handful of toss-up states, yes, you are correct. However, in order for Romney to win the Presidency, he has to win almost ALL of the toss up states, Obama only has to win relatively few. The path to the whitehouse for Obama has many paths, Romney only really has one. So, yes, Romney could win the Presidency, but its an uphill climb and therefore...not REALLY a deadheat.
