Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years [W:41/368/472]

Guess the headline would different if Reid had an "R" by his name.

That was an unnecessary comment for Reid to make. Reminds me of that stupid comment John Kerry made during a debate in 2004 about Dick CHeney's daughter being a lesbian.

But Reid is acting as a Democrat attack dog now. These kinds of coments are to be expected by the Demwit lesser-thans, because Obama certainly cant make these kind of comments. Its just another advantage the incumbent has. And its a reason Mitt needs to find him a VP pretty soon so he will have someone who can gp play in the gutter with Obama's Demwit mouth-pieces...

With the kind of money Roney has its MORE than feasible that he could have easily avoided paying taxes LEGALLY. Most likely there is nothing illegal he did. But if Mitt went ten years wihtout paying any taxes then what the American public will see is how messed up the tax loopholes, offshore accounts, corporate subsidies, etc actually are. Which will go even further to make Romeny the face of the enemy - the Posterboy for everything that has caused monetary inequality in this nation.

This is a loyal Democratic operative trying to create a distraction and gin up a little class warfare to divert voters' attention from Obama's record.

he should talk about getting a call from the guy who used to smoke pot with Obama, and recount how that guy claims Obama never actually went to college, which is why he won't produce any transcripts.

Does it mean anything other than the US tax code is totally screwed up if Romney legally didn't pay any taxes? GE didn't pay any taxes and they're in bed with this administration. Are they as bad as Romney if Romney legally didn't pay any taxes? Someone with an axe to grind calling Reid and saying that he didn't pay any taxes is not what I would call a reliable source and worthy of anything other than a laugh. I'm pretty sure the IRS would have been all over Romney if he did something illegal on his tax returns.
 
Stuff like this is scummy but it might be smart for the democrats. Mainly because shady accusations like this are par for course on the republican side of things but they are allowed to get away with it. Something like this is really only shocking because it's less normal for a democrat to sink to that level. If they start doing it more they can take the democratic lead and start getting away with whatever they want to.

As a socialist I'm biased because I would love to see the democrats throw away whatever tiny shred of credibility they have with progressives for short term gain.

They already have the same amount of evidence the birthers had. All they need to do is speculate really really loud for the next few months, if only to remind everyone that Mitt Romney could settle the issue at any moment

No, I cant. You are trying to compare simple tax returns to disprove an accusation that is quite relevant to the electorate, comparing that to accusations of rape and murder? In both cases the accusations can easily be disproved by official records.

It is slightly more serious than that, and admit it. Romney refusing to release his tax records despite his own father being the first to do so back in the day, and other candidates doing the same ... shows to most people.. this guy has something to hide.

Who the hell said he violated any tax laws? Paying no taxes by doing it legally is not violating tax laws. American corporations have been doing that for decades.

It is self-evident. The democrats don't have members that are as outrageous as Bachmann, Allen West, Palin, Gingrich and Santorum. To only name a few. Over and over again these people are not even expected to try to be based in reality. They allow moderate republicans to look sane when they say things democrats would be destroyed for.

You don't have democrats calling for witch hunts across congress or creating mass movements questioning presidential candidates citizenship. Even the 9/11 truth movement, which democrats get blamed for, was heavily driven by the right-wing (admittedly not by republicans, but still by right-libertarians like Alex Jones). In fact, mainstream democrats lined up in mass against the truthers. Most mainstream republicans refused to openly condemn the birthers.

The republicans impeached a sitting president for a sex scandal. When there was talk of impeaching Bush for war crimes the republicans said the move would be "draconian."

Republicans can say almost anything they want unless it is absolutely bat**** insane. Today when a democratic says anything that has even a hint of progressivism to it the republicans make it a scandal in the media.

"Your game?" It wasn't a democrat who created the release many years of tax returns game. It was Romney's father who created the tradition by releasing 12 years of his own tax returns and calling out anyone who didn't.

Mitt Romney has tried to get around this by lying or being outstandingly lame. His first excuse was that John Kerry only released two years of his tax returns. This was entirely false, Kerry's last 20 years of tax returns had been released. Then Romney excused himself by saying Kerry's wife, who wasn't running for president, didn't release her returns so he didn't have to...

Now Romney's excuse is more or less that he thinks the American public is so dumb and easily manipulated that they can't be trusted to make up there own mind about his tax returns.
