Above is an example of the logical fallacy -- false analogy.

Birther issue = crazy people wanting to see a birth certificate even though it was on the internet since before the election.

Tax returns = it will show Americans how the wealthy benefit from our tax code. No law was broken -- that we know of. But the notion of multimillionaires not paying taxes or getting a tax credit for boat or an airplane would not sit well with average Americans who feel the sting every April 15.

I just saw a new release from the AP. They did some phone record digging and found the 'source' that called Harry was hazlnut.

We demand a full public release of all of his phone records if he wishes to prove he was not the 'source'. Otherwise obviously he is hiding something and is indeed guilty of being the 'source'.

MY thoughts are he thinks the release of the returns will be more damaging than not showing them-I highly doubt he has done anything illegal
In reality i don't think the two candidates differ so much
Mitt wants to repeal Obamacare-but not really:he just doesn't want to pay for it
Mitt wants tax cuts-(for the rich too) and expanded military
Obama is clearly better in the foreign relations department
Depending on Senate turnouts i think that if Mitt gets elected he maybe able to "do" more though. If Obama get reelected and Senate tilts more republican it will be 4 more years of "dilly dallying"

going out on a limb here, but I think the chance that Romney paid no taxes for ten years approaches zero.

I don't think that Reid would lie, but that doesn't mean the claim is true. The Bain guy could have some kind of grudge against Romney. And if it was a phone call, how does Reid know he is who he claims to be?
 
Is the claim true? Who knows? I'll withhold judgement until Romeny releases his returns. Until then, I'll assume that whatever they contain has a worse political downside then rumors that he paid zero taxes.

One thing's for sure. Romney's running for job with the most influence in the world. Before the election, American's have a right to see what Romney's finances were like when he WASN'T running for President.

Reid only said that Mitt didn't pay taxes for 10 years, not that he did so illegally. There are possible ways through various loop holes that this could have occurred.

It is possible to make money and not pay taxes -- actually you eventually pay something, but just at a better rate. Of course if you're earning interest in a Swiss Bank, you don't pay taxes on that.

To sum it up...if mitt had nothing wrong with his tax returns he would have released them... One-Possibly(doubt-ably) two years that he "prepared" for his election do not suffice

With his money its MORE than feasible that he could have easily avoided paying taxes LEGALLY. Most likely there is nothing illegal he did. But if Mitt went ten years wihtout paying any taxes then what the AMerican public will see is how messed up the tax loopholes, offshore accounts, corporate subsidies, etc actually are. Which will go even further to make Romeny the face of the enemy - the Posterboy for everything that has caused monetary inequality in this nation.

With the kind of money that Mitt has its MORE than feasible that he could have easily avoided paying taxes LEGALLY. Most likely there is nothing illegal he did. But if Mitt went ten years wihtout paying any taxes then what the AMerican public will see is how messed up the tax loopholes, offshore accounts, corporate subsidies, etc actually are. Which will go even further to make Romeny the face of the enemy - the Posterboy for everything that has caused monetary inequality in this nation.
