I live in the Washington DC suburbs (MD), inarguably one of the more staunch liberal bastions in the nation. I moved here in January 2009, exactly 2 days before Barack Obama was to be sworn in as the 44th President. When driving around the 495 Beltway and beyond, I couldn't help but notice the amazing number of "Obama/Biden 2008" bumper stickers and the array of other pro-Obama paraphernalia adorning cars. The support for the president-elect was beyond palpable.

Fast-forward to 2012, and I RARELY ever see an Obama bumper sticker. In fact, i've made it a personal challenge to look at cars as I drive around to see if I can register any outward support for the guy. Let me tell you, it is nearly non-existent. Will the people of the DC-area still pull the lever for Obama/Biden in November? Without a doubt. But let it be known that the pure lack of excitement for this failed President is very evident......so much so that Obama bumper stickers are hardly anywhere to be found.

If that's not a sad commentary on the leadership of this President compared to the Hope N Change Magic Carpet Ride of 2008, then I don't know what is!!!

yes most of the old ones are on repo'd cars ...." dumb and dumber 2008" "Odinga Obama plus Plugs" " Im on Botox like Biden"

Indeed. Back in 2008 the enthusiasm was so high for Obama that I did not put a McCain sticker in my car for fear of getting it vandalized.

I don't recall seeing a lot of Romney stickers out there. OTOH, Republicans don't go big for that sort of thing. The car with a bajillion bumper stickers on it seems to be a liberal phenomenon.

No Romney either.
None of the above, sounds good.

Obama has been a disappointment to those of us who did have hope. Romney offers more of the same. No matter how you roll the dice - snake eyes.

I totally agree with you....it does seem to be a liberal phenomenon the whole vehemently outward show of support for political candidates. Especially those who espouse the far-left ideologies ....ie. Pro-Abortion....Anti-Gun......Pro-EPA......Anti-Oil types. These are the same people who hung their hopes and dreams on Barack Obama. They may still fight for their pet causes.....but they don't seem to be enthusiastic about the standard bearer of those causes (ie. Barack Obama). I guess that's what happens to a President who insists on Leading From Behind™.

not really...if you look at policy Romney is so far ahead of Obama.. Obama is a loser, always has been a loser, and isnt qualified to run a popsical truck..

Clearly there is less enthusiasm this time around, but I think the fact that Obama was not opposed in the primaries has a lot to do with it. In '08 the campaign was in full swing much earlier.

The lack of bumperstickers from both sides is not something I would base much off of.

OMG... you are almost making points and sense..... Im officallly worried for mankind...LOL

There are less Obama bumper stickers now because his supporters lost jobs and can't afford the foreign cars to put them on any longer. (In 2008, I never saw a single on on an American car, ever)

It is july. The yard signs and bumper stickers, and window clings, and garbage posted on every piece of open grass in every city in America is going to plagued by both sides soon. It is coming.

Eh, I agree to a certain degree.....but when Romney came to Maryland during the primaries, I walked away from a town hall meeing with a couple bumper stickers and a yard sign. I have the smaller sticker on my back window and the yard sign is out for all to see. So one has to wonder why the Obama campaign, with its numerous campaign offices in and around DC/MD/VA, hasn't been more prolific in ensuring his supporters actually DO show their support? LOL

It's called the enthusiasm gap by most analysts. Romney may not have it either, but for the Hope N Changer, this is ironic and very telling transformation within the electorate. LOL

One must have a job to buy a bumper to put a sticker on.

Its an interesting observation. I moved to Massachusetts the summer of 09. There were Obama bumper stickers everywhere. I have barely noticed them this year at all, just a few here and there. I'm on the road just about everyday too.

The Obama haters are looking for anything and everything to give themselves hope.

Romney has died in the last few weeks--they're just in denial.

Don't hate Obama, just noted an observation. Denial? The race is pretty much a dead heat, polling averages are the margin of error. And there is still 3 months to go, wouldn't start your victory dance yet.

He certainly had the individual mandate way before Obama ;)

I think its a little early to be saying this. If we get to late September, early October, and we're still not seeing the stickers, signs, etc, I think this could be re-visited.

I do.

I had an Obama bumper sticker on one of my cars. The car was vandalized with an obviously political insult. Clearly, conservatives have no respect for the property rights they worship. I don't know if I can afford the damage conservatives will inflict if I put a sticker on my car this year.

Pics or it didn't happen

What policy? The Ryan budget? War with Iran? Cutting taxes further for the wealthy? Bush II is all Romney is at best.

If that's "the best we've got," I could just cry.

I seen a few back then on "American" cars, but then this area trends more to the American brands than foreign. I saw a couple Obama stickers from this year out west in Portland, one foreign cars of course, they are much more abundant out there, but not really any elsewhere. I saw more "Keep Portland Weird" stickers, guess that could be the same as a vote for Obama sticker.
