John McCain: Sarah Palin Was 'Better Candidate' For VP Than Mitt Romney

This is just McCain being the stubborn ass he is. The Palin pick was a desperate swing for the fences that missed badly. His campaign panicked and picked a barely vetted woman who they thought might turn the game. In that sense I guess she may have been a better pick ... insofar as there was at least a *chance* she might capture the nation's imagination. Romney -- not so much. He would have been a safe play when what was needed was a home run. Sorry for the extended analogy. :p

Well i guess that means Palin is not on the VP list. Can't have someone more qualified than you be your number 2. This is just embarassing for romney. If palin is a better candidate than romney, then he is finished.

Many conservatives thought Cheney was actually more presidential than Bush, especially first term. But seriously, taking McCain's word for it? A failed presidential candidate who pissed away the election, incompetent at every turn - including vetting his VP pick, and this is the guy you're listening to?

And no, I doubt very much Palin would be on Romney's list no matter what. She's a proven loser.

No but him passing up romney for palin says a lot about how qualified romney is.

You mean on how unqualified "the Maverick" was to be the wise leader of the country... No one could question McCain's patriotism or devotion to this country... but he is clearly a loose screw at times... Selecting Palin gave him a boost at the time... but clearly was the difference in the campaign, which lost him the middleground voters who swung the election in favor of Obama...

Let this be a lesson to Romney... the conservative base are either in your pocket and adamant about removing Obama from the White House, or they're stubborn and somewhat ignorant and wont be swayed by the nomination of a conservative balance to the ticket to come out in droves anyway... and the race is decided on who gets more of the swing votes in the middle... You used to hold a huge lead in the middleground votes, but then you gravitated right during the nomination process... stay in the center, where the overwhelming majority of Americans are, and we can be rid of Obama come November...

I would not read too much into this. McCain is not likely to officially say he screwed up with Palin as there is far too much to loose and nothing to gain with such a statement. Of course he is going to say he made the right choice, though I think most of us perceive he regrets the choice.
