Obama shows he is the candidate who better understands the economy

Err, how old are you, chief? Because companies actually started computerizing in the 70s and 80s. I know because I was designing some of their databases.

Some businesses cpmputerized in the 80's. Most were still limping along with upgraded Selectrics and some dot matrix printers on Bar paper.

In the 90's, everybody was looking to computerize. I still recall in about 1993 watching a young man set up his computer visiting my region. He might as well have been materializing a space ship. It was pretty rudimentary, but it was amazing.

In 1990, there was an IBM typewriter on every desk and a computer behind the curtain which nobody was allowed to touch.

In 1999, there was a PC on every desk and the last remaining IBM typewriter was gathering dust in case someone needed to type a 3-part form.

He failed in his four years of elective office, or was at best average. Unless you count Obomneycare as a success....

He took office with a big deficit hanging over the state and left office with a surplus.

The unemployment rate in Massachusetts was under 5% when he left office.

The way he created Romneycare is more impressive than the end result. He formed a commission, followed their recommendations and sold it to the people.

His popularity was pretty low when he left office, but, come on, he was a Republican in Mass. It's amazing that he wasn't tar and feathered just for putting a R behind his name.

If Obama had reduced the deficit, not even balanced the budget, just reduced the deficit AND had unemployment, real unemployment, under 5%, i'd be voting for him this fall.

He didn't. He can't, he won't and I won't.

PolitiFact | Mitt Romney says he reduced Massachusetts unemployment to 4.7 percent

Like every governor of MA he was required to balance the budget. Both job creation and unemploment lagged the rest of the country. Over Romney's four years MA was 47th in job creation.

He was a lot less popular when he left than he was when he started.

How about you explain it to us why it's ok to bankrupt the government. For the life of me, I can't imagine why that would be ok.

Obviously you can't vote for Romney then..Who supports tax cuts across the board-even for those who don't need it and plans on expanding our military.

Another person ignoring the OP and starting a new topic trying to derail the thread.

If Obama understands the economy why are more people getting on disability than those able to find a job?

I didn't realize anything that wasn't Obamabot worship talking points was considered a "derail". Care to explain?

You think Obama is crippling people?

As it turns out, the number of people claiming disability has been rising since -- GASP -- Ronald Reagan was president. And disability claims generally increase in recessions and weak economies.

The average unemployment nationwide was 5.8 when Romney took office and was 4.6 when he left office. During his term he implemented Romneycare. He presided over a 1 percent decrease in the unemployment and this was give or take reflective of the overall economy. In Mass, he started out with a lower factor and ended up with a little higher number.

Of course, this was during the relative boom time of the Bush years and before the economic policies of the Democrat controlled Federal Congress took hold.

I think we would all settle for the results of Romney or Bush over the Big 0 and his cronies inside and outside of the government.

How? Which policy did Obama implement is creating more poor people?

Apparently the government plays absolutely zero role in aiding your success, but is ultimately to blame for both your employment and financial situation.

All I hear from Obama it is government that is responsible for businesses success. I mean how can that be when there is more poor people under Obama than any president before him.

There are 3 and a half million fewer American jobs today than there were 4 years ago today. For the economy to be holding its own against population growth and to show a little increase, we need to have added more than 200,000 jobs per month.

His policies have not achieved this growth. It's not what he's done to hurt the economy. It's what he has failed to do which is to help the economy.

In fairness to him, he doesn't have the first clue what to do to help business. It's in his DNA to undermine business and in so doing he is killing the Golden Goose. A country like the one he envisions needs a broad and growing base of tax revenue. Everything he does is preventing this from coming to reality. He doesn't know how to make it right. He only knows how to make it worse.
