Its a shame that no one running for president is actually against illegal immigration.

On "Face the Nation" Mitt Romney says he'd come up with a long-term plan for young immigrants when he gets into office - NYPOST.com
BRUNSWICK, Ohio — Mitt Romney is refusing to say that he would overturn President Barack Obama's new policy allowing some young illegal immigrants to stay in the United States.
The Republican presidential candidate was asked three times in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation" whether he would overturn the executive order issued Friday if he's elected in the fall. He refused to directly answer.
"It would be overtaken by events," Romney said when pressed for the second time by moderator Bob Schieffer during the interview taped Saturday while the former Massachusetts governor's bus tour stopped in Pennsylvania.

"It would be overtaken by events," means, what again?

"Self-deportation", I would guess....you know, making it so unbearable to be brown that you leave the country you grew up in.

I guess it is viewed as "voluntary Missionary work", that is probably how Mittens relates to it.

In the interview Romney stated that the first step is actually securing the border. And because the people affected by Obama's Executive Order need to reapply every 2 years before that second year is up his administration will have enacted permanent immigration rerform through the legislature. This is undoubtedly the right way to go. Even Obama admitted months ago that he did not have Constitutional authority to change the law through EO. So Romney did answer that he wouldn't repeal Obama's order. He just didn't say it in a nice 30 second sound bite.

redundant.

That's a bit of nonsense. Illegals come in all colors and nationalities - and they should all be denied services until life here is so unpleasant they do leave. There should be no opportunity here in this country for illegals (any color, shape or age).

Here's how it'll work - afetr the elections, the congress critters made bold by all this talk and the success of decades of conflating legal immigrants with illegal aliens, will try to pass another "immigration" reform bill that includes amnesty (look for McCain to be involved). Their constituents will tear them a new one, loudly, daily and without cease. The measure will fail and the critters will moan about how they wanted to do something but can't. Party will blame party and talking heads will have more to yammer nonsensically about.

You guys elected Romney dude. That's the good thing for ya'll. Just wait a couple of days and he'll be so against it your head will spin. And I'm sure his new decision will be just as resolute as all of his other politically convenient flip-flops.

Are you suggesting that every brown person is an illegal?

Yes yes, including those who were brought here as children, have spent most of their lives here, work and pay taxes here, abide by our laws, are productive members.......we should make their lives unbearable here.....even though many in the GOP do not want the US to act like that.

Yes. They should not be working here - by law, so the bit about paying taxes is absurd, as is the "abide by our laws" bit. They are not "productive members" because they are not members. In certain cases it's not their fault they were brought here in violation of our law, but it certainly is their fault they are staying here.

Are you intentionally misunderstanding the effects of profiling laws in AZ and AL?

No, that would be you. If a police officer pulls over a Russian illegal alien who can only speak Russian and has no drivers license, the officer would have a reasonable suspicion that person is here illegally. However, the large bulk of illegals in those two states are from countries south of our border and are likely to be speaking spanish.

Has nothing to do with color as a good percentage of the citizenry in those states (Arizona at least) are "brown". And I love the new meme - now they're brown. The open border set used to say we were predjudiced against Mexicans, then when that didn't work, hispanics/latinos, now it's just the generic "brown".

My grandchildren are brown, as is my daughter. They've never been confused with illegals.

Long term plan = put it off for another decade or two.

There are no racial profiling laws in Arizona and Alabama so you are full of ****.

Regardless, he will be against illegal immigration. It might take him a week or two but he'll get there.

No one in their right mind will believe what ever he says unless they have been living under a rock for the last several years.

How can you be so sure? What has he said, done, what philosophy has he espoused, that makes you think he will oppose illegal immigration?

No other president has done so since Eisenhower, after all.

He has flip flopped on several other major issues.

But many people that are running for office are against illegal immigration.

What makes me think he'll be against it soon? Well, **** if he changes his stance on everything else every couple of days, why should this be any different? It's kind of like me saying that if I keep flipping a coin, eventually it'll land on tails.

Romney will be for this until the polls change.

Lets say I am some rich guy with numerous homes around the world. One of my homes I haven't been too in years gets broken into by some homeless person and she has a kid born in it and they set up housekeeping. I show up there one day and call the cops but the cops say not only does the kid get to stay in my home but I have to feed clothe and educate him too, same thing with illegal immigrants is happening now.

In the interview Romney stated that the first step is actually securing the border.

the first step would be to address corporate hiring of undocumented labor and the treatment of those workers. if corporate entities were facing significant, enforced fines, they'd have motivation to figure out who was here legally or not.

as for kicking kids out of the country who have grown up and been educated here, i'm glad to see Romney doesn't want to do that. those kids identify as American, and many have little or no experience in whatever country they might be deported to. kicking a kid who is basically American out of the country right after graduation is the poorest way to deal with the issue.
