Jim Geraghty over at National Review's "Campaign" blog lays out a few of the reasons why:

...May ended with David Axelrod getting flustered by pro-Romney hecklers and protesters at his event in Boston, while Romney held a press event outside the gates of the shuttered Solyndra plant. Still to come: The Obamacare decision from the Supreme Court....

Yeah we know, and the worse things get the better off we all are right.

Because bad is the new good, for some.

What other ill will do you wish upon us? A terrorist strike here at home.....would that make you jump for joy?

You do realize you're talking to a Marine don't you?

Holy ****, a conservative site says things are bad for Obama. Color me shocked! People who get their news from sources which tell them what they want to hear are doomed to always look silly.

This independent centrist also thinks he had a terrible month (although the bad news keeps blending together it's getting tough to tell one bad month from the other)

how could Obama be thrilled that polls in MI have now just about evened up?

Obama went all-in on Florida... trying to get the gay and hispanic vote, when the election seemed to hinge on FL... but now... a midwestern strategy could catapult Romney over Obama, without Florida even... and his stance on the traditional midwestern values is depleted, and his mishandling of the economy is a big downside in the rust belt... MI-16, WI-10, PA-20, normally Democratic states could make a large swing in Romney's favor... With AZ, FL, NC, NV, WI all existing as toss ups... if Romney is in the process of turning MI into one as well... before the undecideds are forced to chose (and they've historically voted 80-20 against the incumbent)... this should swing in Romney's favor when all is said and done...

Now the Supreme Court is about to throw out his landmark signature piece of legislature... which leaves him just ARRA, illegally using TARP for the auto-industry, and killing bin Laden... with unemployment over 8% and a workforce participation rate at its lowest since 81... This is further proof that the stagnation under Obama equates to Carter... and people are warming to Romney as the new Reagan... Only where Reagan Democrats were the swing, it's likely to be Romney independents, libertarians, and undecideds... who see the conservative approach as necessary given the current state of the economy, and the mounting fiscal crisis...

How's that "Conservative approach" working out in Europe? You think we "need" the suffering of another perhaps deeper recession? How dose a "Centrist" get so far off course?

They arent applying the "conservative approach" in Europe... They've made spending cuts, but they havent dropped the riduclously high tax rates... They also have debt entanglements which prohibit individual countries from succeeding against the momentum of the others to show proof of what approach is successful... It's a series of sheep ready to fall off the cliff together at the moment...

Oddly enough... this used to be considered the central approach to American economics... The very one that ALL of our founding fathers agreed upon... Less government, low taxes, no unecessary taxes, individual and economic independence...

And ya know what... using that approach we became one of the fastest developing civilizations in known history...

It's high time we get back to being American... and stop looking to Europe

Holly ****, an ad sourcinem response from Redress, who apparently either lacks the willingness or the ability to read and respond to OP's!

I think you can officially color us all shocked, with that one. Such a thing, has it ever happened Every Single Time You Enter A Thread?

 the President's reelection has had a rough couple of months. That observation is not exactly partisan.

Yes, it is all my fault you get all your news from conservative sources so you do not have to think for yourself. it is all my fault that your source put nothing but spin on the events. it is all my fault that it did not include things that might not fit with the picture it wanted to present.

Yeah, that's it. Good story.

I used to watch just foxnews. I used to read all conservative blogs <drudge> Now I still watch fox and read Drudge, but ive added msnbc and cnn and Huffingtonpost...and other Gop and Dem sites. You cant know whats going on watching just one or the other Redress is right.
I get gallup and Rasmussen sent to my email daily and most of the time twice daily for each. Obama has slid which is a terrible indication for him at this point. He hasnt slid much, but hes slid and that is a very bad indicator in my opinion at this point of the campaign.
Obama has a huge mountain to climb and that mountain is the forces of the super rich in this country have aligned against him. They are donating huge sums of money to defeat him.
Sheldon Adelsen has given more money to romney and the right to this point that George Soros gave to the entire 2004 election to defeat GW Bush. No one seems to rail on Adelsen like they did Soros. That in itself should indidate to anyone who makes 100 k or less you should vote for Obama...these guys aint spending 10s of millions not to get it back threefold.
Having said all that I now believe Obama is in very deep trouble and the indicators are hes going to lose this election, unless he does something to pull up.
Obama can turn it around...and its the debates that will define the outcome of this election...Obama had better OWN romney the first debate....just my humble opinion.

Obama has had a pretty rough first term ...

He only inherited two simultaneous wars, the most debt in the nation's history, a health care system that was driving record number of people into bankruptcy, the worst recession since the great depression, worsening climate change, and nearer to the point where world oil demand exceeds world oil production and its associated drag on the economy.......not to mention record filibusters by the party of no.

I am surprised he has made as much progress as he has in dealing with that ****storm left by the last inhabitant of the White House!

Actually, he inherited control of both houses of the legislature, with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate...

and what he did with it is, continue & expand those "two simultaneous wars" then later add another, ballooned the debt to be even further the greatest debt in history, created a healthcare plan that the people oposed because it still leaves us bankrupt but also helps bankrupt the us govt as well, and he took the recession from recovery mode in Q2 of 09 (which is before his policies took effect, depending on which argument you're trying to participate in at the time) to stagnation and decline which Bill Clinton even said we are in the start of a recession right now...

Oh, and are you serious with the "climate change" and "critical point" for fossil fuel estimates garbage?!?!? You do realize ALL of those estimates for the expiration of fossil fuels were tabulated without complete knowledge of what was in the strategic oil reserves and before the discovery of fracking as an efficient means of converting the massive amounts of oil shale across the world into easily consumable energy, right? In fact they're discovering new locations of shale often... which drastically increases that date to the point where we have more than enough time for there to be a realistic cheap alternative energy that runs as efficient if not more efficient than fossil fuels do... (and when I say efficient, I mean you don't need the government to have to subsidize them, to exist... but they run profitable on their own)...

I dont know how you can take the President having the economy tank in his last year in office, and blame Bush for it... When the economy tanked in Bush's last term in office you lumped on mountains of criticisms and still do... When Obama's economic stagnation is running out and we are on the road for decline it's still Bush's fault in your eyes... despite the 4 years of Obama being in office...

Regardless of how you feel about Obama as president, you can't ignore the thrashing David Axelrose took in Boston, the fact that MI polls are within the margin of error and have shown Romney leading, that unemployment went up, and that the Supreme Court potentially tossing out Obama's supposed signature bill as a bad month in the election process...

So your answer is Yes then. Americans DO need to suffer for our "sins". Only it is the innocents that will do the suffering. Those that caused the calamity will be rewarded.
The America you envision died in the Great Recession and now you want to revive it. There will be no zombie America and we won't elect zombie Reagan either.

LOL! Thanks for the conservative white male perspective, we just don't get enough of that around here.

I thought MSLSD was particularly entertaining on the night of the Wisconsin election. Ed was in rare form.

Now the Supreme Court is about to throw out his landmark signature piece of legislature......

We don't know that yet. Nobody knows yet.

Chances are Obama will win. Too many Liberal Supreme judges will decide in Obama's favor.

IndepCentristMA is NOT a conservative. He's a FAIR and BALANCED Independent like me.

BTW what's with your racist remark? What do you have against white people?

Neocon.

Oh no, you just confused describing a race with "racism".

There are exactly 4 Conservative Supremes and exactly 4 Liberal Supremes. The only one that has any element at all of having a mind of his own is Kennedy, who tends to favor the Conservatives but not always.

This case will be decided by Kennedy and nobody else.

We don't know that yet. Nobody knows yet.

IndepCentristMA is NOT a conservative.

Right, he just plays one on the internets! LOL!

BTW what's with your racist remark? What do you have against white people?

Its not a racist remark, its a documented fact that most of the climate change deniers are white conservative males.

Wonderful job of assigning a political affiliation of which I am not a part... I know you took the simple approach because it's too hard to admit that it doesn't take for someone to be a far right wing nut job to be thoroughly dissatisfied with the way Obama is running things... that I will go from voting 3rd party/independent for 3 straight elections to voting the most competent candidate I have seen in some time, in particularly on the 1 issue of fiscal responsibility and economic stimulation... because it's such a priority at the moment, and Obama is failing unequivocally...

The lean you pick for yourself on a political forum is not convincing. You may like to think of yourself as a centrist, but I have never seen you take a position that wasn't conservative. In fact you are more conservative than many who admit they are conservative.
