52% See Romney As Mainstream, 45% Say Same of Obama

I do not think that word, "huge", means what you think it does. A poll result not far out from the margin of error is not huge. It's pretty small in fact.

In other News, 52% now means "most voters" and 45% means "evenly divided"

52 mainstream vs 30 extreme

45 mainstream vs 45 extreme

Not one against the other.

I wouldn't put too much stock into Rasmussen. They have a well established reputation of being right-leaning up until the final days of an election.

Besides that, I don't think people believe that a man who made a living destroying companies and profiting off of tax breaks is a mainstream candidate.

Mainstream politics are what got us into this mess in the first place.

Agreed on that. However, the reason it is here is because this kind of movement will impact the 2012 race - in a world with the EU crumbling and us looking like a potential double-dip; Romney might be the "mainstream, not partisan, competent guy" that middle voters decide to chuck Obama for. Mind you, my problems with him stem from his tendency towards mainstreamism, but for better or worse, the general independent voter sees it as a positive.

Romney's favorables are rising too.

...Mitt Romney is viewed favorably by 48 percent of voters in a new CNN-ORC poll, a huge jump for the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Only 42 percent of voters in the poll have a negative view of Romney, who held only a 34 percent favorability rating in CNN's poll in February. Romney still trails President Obama in favorability. Obama is at 56 percent positive and 42 negative in the CNN-ORC poll...

Wow this is a huge margin and the beauty is he is over 50%

Most voters now see Mitt Romney as politically mainstream, but they're evenly divided over whether President Obama’s political views are mainstream or extreme.

:doh It's Rasmussen! Of course the polling numbers are skewed toward the Republican candidate. It's like saying Media Matters would ever have a negative poll against President Obama. Not gonna happen (but if it did I'd be very surprised).

Polls dont mean **** until debates in my opinion. And the lame ass commercials get under way.

God I hate polls.

Would you like republican leaning rasmussen polls better if they were to be presented in a HUGE font making them seem more important?

We all know your definition of "Huge" Navy....and trust me.....it isn't all that.

This is actually surprisingly high....considering that you wingers have been trying desperately for four years to paint Obama as some extreme far-leftist socialist....and still 45% of the country sees Obama as completely mainstream. Seems like your efforts have failed miserably.

The trouble with Romney though is WHICH Romney are they talking about? The Massachusett's moderate Romney who probably WAS mainstream or the reinvented etch-a -sketch Romney of 2012....that has flip flopped on pretty much every major issue in order to cowtow to the wacko fringe of your party?

I doubt it.....Navy Pride thinks "Rasmussen is a biased pollster that only polls liberals"....oops....unless Rasmussen agrees with him and then it is complete legit.

7% really isn't that huge. 17 percent, yeah.

You really crack me up............CNN next to MSNBC is one of the biggest backers of Hussein Obama there is.......I watch it because I like to see what the other side is doing and I have never seen any Conservative win one of their polls......... You sure as hell can't say Rasmussen is pro right..........

Just because CNN isnt a far right wing pundit propaganda machine does not mean they are left wing either or "backers of Hussein" (beautiful) "Obama". They are center right at best.

I'm one of Romney's biggest supporters, and I agree that all these fluctuating polls are meaningless...

However, truthfully, Romney's views are more mainstream, if mainsteam = in line with the greater percentage of Americans, when you go across the board... ObamaCare being the big one, but also still support for the auto-bailout is below 50%, voters in many states have shown that the population as a whole is about 70% against gay marriage, and as you go on down the line, the nation favors Romney's positions to Obama's...

This poll begins to show that, despite all the liberal hype and attempts to label Romney as out of touch with mainstream America... his views are, and his political supporters are starting to see that... Which is likely the result of those middle ground voters that were disappointed as he was being grouped in with conservatives like Gingrich, Santorum, and Rush Limbaugh (for some unknown reason, since Limbaugh hates Romney)... are now drawing back to Romney as the comparison is put forth Romney or Obama...

Now, what I think is absolutely funny is seeing all the Obama supporters, who keep throwing up poll after poll to saw why Obama is going to blow out Romney, now are trying to devalue the use of polls as meaning nothing... what changed? Obama's poll results? Now that Romney leads in polls they mean nothing? Or, even more hilarious, is seeing a thread full of Obama supporters saying polls mean nothing, then posting polls themselves... Or saying Rasmussen polls are biased, but then post MSNBC polls...

Wrong... they're supposed to be center right... but over the last decade, they've gone consistently commercially liberal, as NBC... and they've been notoriously absent in most criticisms of Obama...

Their polls have been skewed heavy towards Obama this entire process... or towards whatever Republican candidate was running against Romney at the time... but votes at the ballots went against the CNN polls...

The news isnt supposed to "criticize" anyone, they are supposed to report the news and thats it.

Really? Proof of this, or are you going off what right wing pundits say all the time?
