Obama ad calls Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital firm a ‘vampire’ - The Washington Post

The ad paints Romney as out of touch with the needs of the local workers and concerned only with Bain’s own profits.
“We view Mitt Romney as a job destroyer,” says one former mill worker in the ad. Another calls Bain “a vampire. They came in and sucked the life out of us.”

Video at the link. This may be the hardest-hitting of the Obama ads yet. It's basically an interview with steel workers who lost their jobs thanks to Bain capital looting their company, then filing for bankruptcy.

I wonder how many of this vampire's clients are pension funds. I imagine some digging in annual reports and government filings will uncover some interesting tidbits, like the cannibals at CalStrs who are taking the money of their union brothers and sisters and investing it with Bain in, among other places, China.

and like much of Obama's administration-its based on lies. Romney had left Bain capital by the time that happened. OOPS

once in my life I would like to see a completely honest campaign ad... just once.

Me too. But I clap for Tinkerbell too, sigh.

i dislike negative campaign ads intensely. my preference would be that the president avoid them entirely.

This economy is going nowhere fast. BObama will get increasingly desperate, notwithstanding his allies in the press who'll run articles about how Mitt wrestled Brownies to the ground in grade school and cut their curls. The most pathetic thing about this is Mitt will probably apologize for it.

The ad is blatantly dishonest and intentionally misleading. Many factors contributed to the demise of GS Technologies in 2001 and others. Bethlehem Steel also went belly up and filed for Bankruptcy in 2001. A massive import of steel from foreign countries at an reduced cost can be directly linked to the decline and decay of the steel industry in the U.S. and certainly nothing to do with Bain.

Anyone remember Wierton Steel? It was bought by its union workers. It went bankrupt in 2003 after it managed to lose $700 million in five years.

Bain capital was good at meaning money. In order to make money, others have to lose something...

A bully is someone who mugs you for your lunch money and then hands it to someone else who he thinks needs it more than you do.

Right, everyone knows that bullies are big-time into charity. :lamo

And interestingly, most of the companies Bain invested in that went bankrupt (including those that went bankrupt after Bain sold off their ownership shares) went bankrupt during the economic decline in the early 2000s. One article described it as a "strange little cluster".

And, again, lest we not forget: Bain had a hand in the re-emergence and success of Staples, Dominos, and Sports Authority.

What I find lacking is the reality of the steel industry vs the speciousness of the union workers wants. One question this ad leaves unanswered is whether GST Steel would have bled to death anyway, but I guess the other parts left out like outside forces impacting the American steel industry were left out so the partisan hacks could focus on Romney being an evil genius mastermind. Look up whether the US, Japanese or German Steel industry has been adding or losing jobs as a whole. I bet you will even find out that China, the dominant global steel industry nation, has even had a decline in steel workers. All this ad is is speciously presented facts that will ignite the ignorant blood of the leftist partisan hacks that will not think, feel, or research information on their own !
