Romney Campaign Massively Downgrades The Number Of Jobs It Claims He Created From 100,000 To 'Thousands' | ThinkProgress

In its effort to sell Mitt Romney as someone who understands the economy and knows how to create jobs, one of his campaign’s early talking points was that he helped create 100,000 jobs during his tenure at Bain Capital. The campaign repeated the claim throughout the primary, despite a glaring lack of evidence to support it (even Sarah Palin doubted it).

Romney eventually stopped repeating the talking point, which advisers had difficulty defending under pressure, and now it seems Boston has completely Etch A Sketched the number and severely lowered the number of jobs Romney is supposed to have created at Bain.

What is it about Rmoney that makes me not trust him? That he keeps his money in Swiss and Cayman banks? That he's flip-flopped on almost every issue? That he doesn't have the courage and decency to admit he tormented that boy in high school, nor any genuine remorse for his behavior?

Or it the sum of these and his many other behavioral problems?

Probably he finally started taking into account everyone he fired when Bain Capital bought other companies out. That was his modus operandi, to buy out a company, fire a lot of people to suddenly increase its profits, jack up the stock price, and sell the company before it collapsed. He might even have destroyed more jobs than he ever created.

What do you think he'll do to the American middle class in order to increase the nation's "value"? A whole lot of American businesses are getting sold to China. Think maybe's Romney's going to do to the country what he did to so many American businesses? Jack up the stock price and sell it before it collapses?

Thanks, let me add one key thing. He looted the pension funds of those companies and took obscene profits by doing so. That means the workers got shorted and the taxpayers paid what the workers did get.

All the money the workers had saved in their pensions over the years went to Bain. That's why he's worth somewhere in the neighborhood of a half-billion dollars.

I think the bottom line is that there's no way to prove Romney's job creation record at Bain, for better or for worse. More significant, to me, is the fact that as governor, his state ranked 47th out of 50 states. Which is not to say that that was all his fault, as it surely wasn't, but he doesn't have much to brag about in the way of being a "job creator".
